FC4 worked ok, now "Could not find suitable display settings!"

    Hello!
I have had FC4 installed in my laptop (Zenbook with i7 6500U, 12GB, GF 940M 2GB, Win10, etc) for 1 year and everything was perfect.
Some time ago, after exiting the game I started having this error message from Windows saying that the program stopped unexpectedly but I just closed the window. This kept happening when exiting, always, but nothing bad seemed to happen anyway.
Yesterday after exiting I had a "green screen" from windows and it rebooted (I NEVER get blue or green screens).
Now I try to run the game and it goes to the little image of Far Cry 4 in the center of the screen and a window appears saying "Could not find suitable display settings!" and quits to desktop.
I checked the integrity with Steam, all good. Everything was working perfectly for a year! (yes I'm a slow gamer)
    Can you help, please?
    Thanks!!!!

In cases where Far Cry doesn't start due to weird or corrupted graphics settings, I usually delete the game's config file. Starting the game will make a new one again, fixing any compatibility issue.

Try renaming or deleting the file, it's in your Documents folder: "Documents\My Games\Far Cry 4\{YOUR_UPLAY_ID_HASH}\GamerProfile.xml"?

Having said that, as far as I know a GREEN screen of death indicates you have a (free upgrade) Windows 10 Insider/tester Operating System. Those builds may be more prone to instability than regular ones.

    Fixed

Thanks for the advice. I had read about deleting that file but also that for many people it didn't work.

Anyway, it's now fixed. It had to do with some driver problem with my "desktop" video device, Intel 520.
My computer uses this 520 for desktop work and the Nvidia 940M for games, but apparently that green screen was related with some problem with the 520 and it was with a driver problem in Device Manager. I uninstalled it, rebooted and the driver was reinstalled and all working ok.

I had never seen the green screen and frankly also almost never the blue screen, and yes, I'm using Insider preview but in Slow ring, so that means that I also have no error screens in general.

    Thanks!!!
