Gear stats should go away. They make heroes surpass their innate balance thresholds.

Not only do they make the time to kill ridiculously short (everyone maxes out attack damage) people also max out on stamina reduction and regen. Any balancing done on the default values (mainly stamina values) get utterly negated by gear stats.

I had much more fun playing no stats endless march. This was also why the beta was so much fun to me - everyone was roughly in the same gear stat wise and getting killed by two heavies wouldn't even be a thing. Gear stats were the cause of revenge meta before revenge was nerfed because GEAR STATS. Now it's maxing out attack and stamina values while neglecting defense which speeds up kill times so damn much it is not very fun. There is little combat now. It's ganking with unblockable CC's into instant death most of the time in dominion. Plus the gear stats negate some of the balance placed on certain characters such as cent, pk, and warden. You can nerf their stamina usage, but gear stats brings it right back up.

With the free weekend I got a few friends to try the game, but the gear stats is kind of putting most of them off. Like there isn't really any choice in your build and they feel so behind, and feel that is unfair. They are at a gear disadvantage as well as an experience disadvantage. This innate imbalance in the game is one flaw that needs to go. You guys balance base on default values, but then allow untested stat builds to go in.

I then even told them to wait until rep 5 to spend their steel to get the legendary sets or else it would be a waste, but they want to look cool now (like how I do).

Simply put gear stats are garbage and was a way for Ubisoft to money grab. Simply having gear purchasable with steel via loot crates or whatever without stats would have been the better move.

    Agree.

For a game that cost $60 up front, has multiple other items for sale. (Season Pass, endless effects and executions)

To put this in for even more money on top of launching without dedicated servers to save even more money at the expense of a qaulity gaming experience.

On top of that, as you mentioned...
Let's just make the experience for new players even more miserable now.

Not only are they facing people that will demolish them with simply having superior experience and skill, but let's make sure they are handi-capped against these players as well.

I call this game my heroin.
I'm addicted, and addicted to the ever neglected and frustrated Orochi.

I may be addicted, and they may have gotten a good chunk of my money for it.

But you better believe this whole experience will cause me to stop before I purchase any game in the future and say...
"Oh, it's a Ubisoft game? No thanks".

That's what business models like this will do for you in the long run.

Tbh, I totally see your opinion, and I agree that it is a problem, but as a whole I must respectfully disagree on it being the source.

I don’t think the problem here is so much the gear stats as a whole, but rather defense penetration as a stat instead. The game would be much more balanced if it weren’t for this stat, but because of it, it takes negating 3 maxed stats in defense worth of gear cost only one maxed stat: defense penetration.

I understand why they did this: to hotfix all the complaints of the defensive meta, but the real fix that needs to be implemented is the change to gb and parry they keep talking about but never implementing. We get the root problem of the defensive meta fixed, we could change defense penetration out easily with a different stat such: I enjoyed feat cool down as stat personally from the OG days.

Anyways, back to defense penetration. It effectively nullifies defense as a stat at all, so go to is for everyone to neglect defense to be a neutral 0: never to go in the negative, but no point to being positive. That makes every defense stat an easy choice: helm go for def to balance it making it 0 overall and excecution regen, chest: stam reduction and regen, arms: revenge mode defense and duration.

The reason we got new stats anyways ways to make it a “harder choice”. But in attempting to do so made it so easy to choose. If you ask me, defense actually bolsters the aggressiveness as a player using a character with no defense that will be 2 shotted will definitely turtle anyways regardless. Someone with strong defense that can take a beating with certainly be more willing to trade and take a chance.

As far as new players, again I would argue that more of the root problem is the matchmaking, which again is always being worked on, but never actually acted on.

Anyways, sorry for the rant. Cheers!

yeah i agree Defence Pen is a problem, i get why they did it, so new players have a better chance against higher players, but it does make defence a waste of time, which means you can't counter attack builds.
