Well... Huh. That was... something? Just some thoughts;
1. Why the F was this even Bayek's game? Don't get me wrong, I liked him, but after killing Flavius (a villain even blander and less developed than Germain, if that's possible) Aya just completely takes over and steals the ending. I can't be the only one disappointed by the fact that the character we spent 40+ hours with just kind of disappears in the end, and his wife (who at that point was way weaker than my Bayek, and far less likable to boot) does all of the cool stuff. Bayek doesn't even get to be one of the dudes stabbing Caesar? C'mon. Why is he considered the founder of the Brotherhood then? And speaking of which...
2. Bayek (and his random cronies from the sidequests who are supposed to be the OG Assassins) keeps talking about "our new Creed." Which is... what, exactly? They literally never spell it out, in what is supposed to be the origin story of the Creed. Sure, it's paraphrased in one of the First Civ tombs (which Bayek weirdly doesn't comment on at all when he finds them) but they explicitly say he can't understand the words of the recordings. So... what's the Creed, exactly?
3. That breakup came out of freaking nowhere. And they both acted like it was an inevitable conclusion. WTF?
4. Modern Day is dead. Period. Even with a playable character and a William Miles cameo, none of the mystique from the Desmond era has returned. I think it's officially time we bid farewell to the Animus, or else finally go through with a hard reboot. There's just way too much baggage at this point.
5. The Amunet reveal totally doesn't work unless you're a pretty die-hard fan who remembered the name of an obscure Assassin statue in Ezio's basement. And if you're that much of a die-hard fan, you probably saw it coming a mile away (personally, I called it the same day Aya was first revealed, and I'm not above digging through my old posts to prove it if one of you want to call me on it
6. While Khemu's memory was kept somewhat fresh by the stone circles and Duat sequences, a revenge plot just can't sustain a 50-hour game. By the time Bayek started beating up Septimius screaming "you killed my son!", I really wasn't feeling the sting anymore.
Overall, I'm quite disappointed with the story. Despite some standout moments, the game just can't hold a coherent plot together. The game was a lot of fun and the world design was amazing, but this was the first time I've finished an AC game and not wanted to play it again.
Asking to remove the modern day is part of the problem. The introduction of Layla as a protagonist was a very important step, but it needs to be pushed farther. Arguing that it should be cut completely just because we didn't get 100% of what we want is counterproductive and stupid. It needs to be better, not eliminated. We got a protagonist, that's one big step. which is why advocating for more improvement is essential at this point. They're listening.Originally Posted by LoyalACFan Go to original post
I'm not sure what you mean by baggage, seeing as the modern day in Origins is, for better or worse, largely free of the Juno arc and everything else with it.
1) I actually thought the same thing. Was a bit strange how Bayek was brushed to the side by the end. From a gameplay point of view it makes sense that we get to play the last part as a weaker character, thus increasing the challenge some (stealth without Senu). But from a story perspective it was a bit weird. If the rumors of a Rome game are true, perhaps saving the assassination of Ceasar for that would have been better? Or will the Rome game end with Aya sailing to Egypt to assassinate Cleopatra
2) Stay tuned for the Hidden Ones DLC.
4) Overall the people working on the story seem to be in a weird spot. Basically they seem to spend a ton of effort not being in anyones way. Therefor the intro was very rushed and the MD was just... not needed. Saw a lot of requests before release about "a playable modern day" otherwise people threatened to boycott. Let's hope they were happy then. It didn't really get in my way, but it felt really unnecessary. I would rather they had spent more energy fleshing out the intro for Bayek's story.
So we wound up with a MD section that's intrusive enough to be annoying to newcomers or people who've lost interest, while still being shallow enough to leave MD fans unsatisfied. Origins' MD was a pointless compromise that satisfied nobody. There are no newly-christened Layla fans out there.Originally Posted by Sicarius_04 Go to original post
For how long? Ubisoft can either bring all of that back (which would be crushing for newcomers) or just say "f*** it" and ditch it all (which would infuriate the diehard MD fans, who are the only reason this franchise still has MD content in the first place). There's no good place to go from here.I'm not sure what you mean by baggage, seeing as the modern day in Origins is, for better or worse, largely free of the Juno arc and everything else with it.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again; the MD plot only ever worked because of the mystery. What are the Pieces of Eden? What exactly is Abstergo plotting? Who was Subject 16? Who were the Ones Who Came Before? After AC1, AC2, ACB, and ACR ended on tantalizing cliffhangers for us all to collectively drool over, they eventually had to deliver on all the cryptic hints and riddles, and they completely and utterly blew it. The main peril was resolved clumsily and unsatisfyingly. The curtain was completely pulled back on the Isu. And now Origins would have us believe that there's yet another cataclysm coming. So they're going with the same old cliche save-the-world plot again, only this time there's no mystique. We know all about Abstergo, and we know all about the Isu. They'll never be able to recapture that Da-Vinci-Code-meets-The-Matrix feeling they had in the first games. The genie is out of the bottle, and it's never going back in.
They already know that, the thing is they don't want to do it. In order to milk this franchise they can't have the MD dictating and limiting where they should go next and what to do, that's why they changed the approach towards it after AC3, trying to make each game have its own self-contained MD story, the problem is that there still are loose ends to solve so this approach isn't ideal (at the moment).Originally Posted by Sicarius_04 Go to original post
My opinion is, since they clearly don't care or don't want the MD to have the scope and importance it has (or used to back in the day), they should drop everything and use the Helix thing as a premise for the games without the pointless office wandering and plots going nowhere (email reading isn't fun, hell, I avoid doing that in real life, imagine in a game where I'm looking for entertainment). We already know how the animus work and we already know what the Helix is (the "animus" used by the entertainment branch of Abstergo), just add an intro video explaining the concept of the animus and what the Helix is to newcomers at the beginning of each game and that's it. I rather not have the MD than have it in its current form.
In the alexandria location i cant loot or find the armory treasure or the papyrus thats right beside it in the temple i tryed deleteing the game and downloading it again still can find them last 2 things i have to grab to get the last trophy please somone help with this because im getting really mad and ive tryed everything.
Assassins creed origins have a lot of optional content, they should just make a series of optional MD missions. So that those whodon't care for it can just avoid it entirely.
It would seem likely that only hardcore AC fans will 100% the game anyways so 'stealing' some resources from the historic section to make some MD seems fair enough.

The way the game ended makes it seem like the DLC will have more MD but i wouldn't bet on it.
