    Features of Far Cry

When I think of Far Cry, one of the many things I think of is the geography. Far Cry 3 for example, had some pretty beautiful waterfalls, groovy mangroves, ‘mazing mountains, and unique temples. Though, the problem is is that it seems as though all those features were all added strictly for other game features to exist. You would only find temple ruins where an idol was. Or you would only come across a nice waterfall and other geographical features when it was linked with a mission. Everything was there simply for the story, side missions, or collectibles. I’d really like the whole open world to be a treat, not just little bits of it. The first Far Cry did this very well.

I like this Canadian Beer42. The open world of Far Cry has always felt alive to me. Fantastic idea, I'll pass this on to the team.

i always thought about it the other way aroud that if there is a temple it makes sense for an idol to b in there not that they made the temple to have a place for the idol
i figured they put the collectibles there so that you have reason to explore the cool areas that they make also there are many cool places i found in 3 that the game story never takes you to waterfalls included

No yeah, I do realize that. That’s what I’m saying. But I added that, the only detailed parts of the game are where there is some some or collectible or mission related to that part. And I agree, it is totally logical and right to work extra hard on an area that is going to certainly be explored. I just think that the open worlds were quite empty with random bits of detailed areas.

Can you provide any specific examples of areas that are noticably less detailed than others? I thought the worlds have all been fairly consistent, I guess I don't pay quite that much attention though, I'm usually just tryin' to find whatever I'm going after and rarely stop to just look around at the world...

A little off-topic here but it was a proto-chicken who laid down a proto-chicken-egg in which a modern day chicken hatched

Check out the second island in Far Cry 3 again. I hadn’t remembered it being that empty, but I’ve come back to it recently and it’s shocking.
