So there a plenty of classes of enemies.
Regular dude: assault rifle
Sniper: sniper rifle and smg
Heavy: lmg
Charger: shotty
Hunters: bow
Defender: assault rifle
Fire dude: molotovs
RPG guy: rpg
Attack dog: jaws (wish there was a takedown on those pesky dogs that can easily rat you out)
In Far Cry, I think it’s safe to say everyone carries an assault rifle or an smg as a main. I mean who wouldn’t, there are so many great weapons that are in those weapon classes.
Great SMGs: Vector, MP5, BZ19, MP34
Great asault rifles: STG-90, F1, MS16, P416, A52
Thing is, the majority of the bad guys in Far Cry are just equipped with an assault rifle. So those people who carry an assault rifle can just pick up their ammo. But people like me who like the SMG a bit more, gotta pick up the ammo from the some-what rare sniper, if the sniper even pulls out his SMG in the first place.
So it’d be greatly appreciated to have two kinds of regular dudes. One with an assault rifle, one with an SMG.
Not only do the enemy types typically only carry one class of weapon, they only carry ONE weapon of that class. So the regulars & defenders only carry ARs, but they only carry either the AK for the starting guys, or in the latter half of the games (traditionally) the p416. I would like to see the enemies carry at least a bit of variety of a particular class of weapons. So the guys with the ARs could be packing an AK, but maybe they have an STG, or FAMAS, and maybe the odd sniper has an M-700 rather than them all having either the SVD, or in later stages the z93...
I get that they want them to carry the lower end gear early on and later when you're powered up a bit have the enemies carrying better weapons, but they should have a few options for each. The shotgunners could have the basic pump or the 1887 (if thats returning) and then later the shotgunners would carry the spaz and maybe (fingers crossed) some beastly new shotgun. I just want them to randomize the enemy weapons!! One thing I do like that seems to have also returned from FC2 is that enemies will now also drop side-arms as well when taken out, even if they didn't have one out at the time, glad that is back...
The most non-sense thing they should fix (and honestly it looks like it's at least been addressed) is the crazy low fall damage threshold. In FC2/3/4, we couldn't jump down a 5 foot drop without losing a bar & 1/2 of health, 10 foot drops were instant death. I always thought that was pretty lame. I'd rather you be able to fall an unrealistically high height than take damage from falling an unrealistically low distance.
A second non-sense issue they should fix is the lack of multiple save files. Thankfully I saw AC:Origins has them again, so I'm hoping FC5 will bring them back as well.
I would say my "main" was the bow, but I did always have an AR & typically a shotgun on hand as well. Thats what I love about having 4 weapons, you can kit yourself up for any occasion. Even though we've only seen .25 seconds of the bow in action I already know my "main" ain't changin' with this game! I'm just keeping my fingers crossed enemies will pack a larger variety of weapons this time out.... I'm really hoping they don't all pack the AR-C, even though its a pretty cool lookin' gun, for authentiity's sake, I just would prefer enemies carry more varied firearms than has been typical in the last few games...
Hello Ubisoft.
Far Cry 2 remains one of my favorite games of all time, and it seems with each new iteration you get farther and farther away from what made FC2 a great survival shooter.
I was delighted to discover the analysis by Marsh Davies:
https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/201...in-the-series/
He accurately and eloquently captures why FC2 is so much fun, and why newer iterations disappoint. Please take a moment to read it.
Essentially, FC2 is dangerous. Every 50 yards in the game is risky. I run from safe house to safe house, each time feeling relief. When a buddy dies, that's game content I won't get to play (real stakes). You have to truly earn advances and small advantages, and you never grow as all-powerful as you can in FC3 and 4 or Wildlands. In those later editions, though the stories were great and the mechanics improved, Far Cry became less a survival shooter and more of a self-aggrandizing hero fantasy.
To quote the above site:"You shouldn’t always give people what they want. This is focus testing’s fatal flaw. It’s also the reason that Far Cry 2 – a game which doesn’t give you what you want and slaps you for asking – is the best game in the series by far."
I couldn't agree more. Please make a cruel, stingy, sadistic or at least pedantic game. Make a hard game.
How about AI that flanks? Realistic AI - adult men who want to kill and survive, not cartoon caricatures of "bad guys."
Thanks for all your time and work. Your teams add joy to my life when you get it right. But Wildlands made me want to quit gaming. Third-person was a mistake. The character is supposed to be me, not barbie. Immersion.
Wow so did I. Honestly, it was that and the bow modded of course. Z93 was a beautiful gun.Originally Posted by Sabotur Go to original post
