Yeah they are a bit overplayed but they made far less sense in all the original games, because now it actually matches the journey of the souls according to Egyptian mythology. Actually was positively surprised to see them put this twist on it

The "perfect condition while dead" is actually a nod to the original Assassin's Creed. There you had the option to press a key [any key] when you see glitches in game, and see a different camera angle, therefore, speak with the person as equals.

They're definitely a bit over the top. The symbolism in each isn't lost on me, nor the fact that Bayek is seeing them off to the Duat. Still, these guys are overly animated for my tastes, considering that they're generally gargling their own blood or have an arrow through their skulls.

My favorite death scenes are those in AC Unity. These "outside of time and space" scenes are okay, but always were a bit silly. The idea that Arno's eagle senses allowed him to snatch a few flashes of memory from his target seemed both better thought out and somewhat lore-friendly.

I wish Unity's launch had gone smoothly. There are so many great things in that game that were immediately abandoned because of its reception and the fact that few ever really played it enough to appreciate its nuances.
