I dont even play this game anymore, I wised up about 6 or 7 months ago. Really, I started losing interest when they has their year 2 SoTG. We all remember that right? The SoTG that went over so badly, that they had to walk it back days later and rename that the year 1 appreciation SoTG, you know, fooling no one.
I thought at the time maybe i will take a break. I think back then i had about 1000 hours in the game give or take, so I got my moneys worth.
What really irks me though, is how much i liked this game, like many others did, and how much Ubisoft and its partner studios continually dropped the ball release after release.
A quick history lesson for some that might not have been here since the beginning.
We jump into the game for the first time and from level 1 through 30, most of us thought this game was something that no one else in the market had, at least not like this exactly. Amazing experience. Totally Immersive, great co op.
Then you get to the endgame.
Falcon Lost Incursion. This is where is all started to fall apart...a month after release. First off, Falcon Lost was the most tedious of all the incursions, the creativity of the mission (hiding under the room in the middle) left a lot to be desired. If that wasn't bad enough, you could exploit it easily, and this (bugs and exploits) had a reverberating effect the game never truly rebounded from
That first incursion and the bugs / exploits essentially broke the game for good in the sense that it sullied the DZ to the point where the cheaters destroyed the casuals which led to the eventual PVE Only DZ that drove the biggest wedge into the community of this game early on. To this day, people still want a PVE DZ, all that discussion stemmed from the broken incursion at the start.
Flash forward to 1.4, better known as the quality of life patch, which want meant to fix TTK and such. 1.4 was the closest this game got to a good state. it didnt last long. Bugs were still prevalent, some of which have been around since launch.
1.5 was the bug patch, where everything was supposed to be fixed, or close to everything at least. We all know now that 1.5 introduced more bugs than it fixed sadly.
It was around this time that I "bugged out" (see what i did there?).
I cant comment on 1.6, 1.7, 1.8, as I never cared to play them. I know what was in them, classified gear etc, but i had no interest in chasing a faux gear score increase. couple that with the fact that Massive couldnt balance a checkbook, I knew the nerfs would be early and often. No thanks.
So today i hear 1.8 isnt ready, but being released anyhow. I dont play this anymore, so i dont have skin in this game, but i cant believe how many people stuck by this game. Massive and Ubisoft deserve zero loyalty from you folks, as they constantly repay you with nothing but frustration.
Yes, the new content is free, but who cares, the core game is broken. Lipstick on a pig does nothing to impress anyone.
I am sure it is a skeleton crew on this game nowadays, so asking them to fix everything is an impossible task. Ubisoft shut off the funding for this game months ago i would bet, so I would not be expecting any great changes.
I have said it once, and will say it again...this game could have been so good, but they squandered all the potential through terrible decisions, and lackluster support (which is the kindest way i can phrase that).
Ubisoft and EA...two companies that just dont do it right. They make money sure, but they are universally hated by gamers....and right now that is not a problem, as publishers still swing a big stick, but those times are a changing, and when the model reverts to the IP creator having the power, which will happen eventually (see the music industry), we can finally do away with these empty suits who leech off the great ideas of the creative people and then distort their vision to meet their ever increasing blood lust for every last cent of their customers.
God i dont miss this game lol. It was nice to know i made the right decision months ago.
COME ON ANTHEM!

I'm looking forward to Anthem too, but I'm only cautiously optimistic.
I'd rather be playing an ME:A DLC right now, but look how that turned out.
Also the FL incursion had little to do with the desire for a PvE DZ. People just want a PvE DZ.
And you're being too hard on the Gear sets, they can a lot of fun.
Survival and Underground were great additions to the game and you didn't even mention them,
Seems pointless to bounce in a bash the crap out the game.
Sure it's a 7/10 game at best, but it can be fun to play casually.... and doesn't deserve 'just criticism'.
bounce in? really? Pal, I was here from the beginning, and i love survival, best mode...i didnt mention it, because like everything else this company does, survival was half assed as well. That game mode could have lived on for a long time had they just spawned loot at different locations, but again...a bad decision, leads to a bad outcome. And yes FL did lead to a PVE DZ chant, as those who cheated were tearing through noobs early on, which I would posit as the key reason so many people left early on. When your endgame is a PVP environment, and that environment is skewed due to exploits, people leave. That is ridiculous to say those to items are not connected.
Underground, you must be new. no one played underground after lvl 40...no one.
Im sorry you dont like me popping in and trashing this game, but no offence, i have every right, i logged tons of hours in this game, and ask around, I have been here a long time. I dont recognize you at all, you must be new.
I agree it could be fun to play casually, but doesn't deserve my criticism? lol...They are releasing a new patch that they themselves said is incomplete...bro...its friday, can i have what you are smoking?
also..while I agree Anthem might not be awesome, it was more a game that comes next that COULD be the next great game.Originally Posted by Mad-Cap Go to original post
And that last post, im not trying to be snarky...i loved this game man...LOVED it...it was easily my fave game for the last few years. But they just crapped all over it...The division is like watching indiana jones and the crystal skull.
Hey McKrackin, good to see you ...let me fix that for you quickly.....this could have been a great game...it ended up being a mediocre game with great potential that was never realized unfortunately.Originally Posted by mckrackin5324 Go to original post
I dont know if anthem will be good...maybe TD2 will fix all the broken great crap and deliver the game we all thought D1 could have been. If they do, I would likely be first in line for it....but there is no way im spending a dime on this game until people triple confirm its awesome lol. Never again. Im through supporting AAA games that do nothing to support their customer base. Just too many cases of this the last few years....
This game, Battlefront 1, Destiny, etc....watered down games that hype the marketing and drastically underwhelm in the end.
It bugs me soo much that this game turned out this way...it was so good at one time.
Then you have the servers, the bugs that have been around forever...at some point you just have to admit, they either dont care, or cant fix it...either option isnt exactly great.
sorry man, been a while, and i always got you two mixed up anyhow haha.Originally Posted by Nopvedz4you Go to original post
still here trolling the PVE folks? lol
Sure you have the one right (a forum account on good standing) , but still, you sound like a jilted girlfriend who can't let go. 6 months after the breakup still complaining?Originally Posted by CaptainSmokiee Go to original post
I was here from the start as well. The game does deserve your criticism I agree with much of what you wrote. However, it doesn't deserve 'just criticism'Originally Posted by CaptainSmokiee Go to original post
I'm just trying to say don't forget that 'people' work on the game - and they aren't all responsible for the bad choices.
(And you are wrong about FL causing the desire for a PvE DZ. It might have been a small part of it, but lack of end-game options, cheating, loosing XP. Credits and Keys at death and the difficulty for solo players were all more major issues. People were asking for it at Beta and before FL was a thing)
