R6 Community Discusses - Map Design Ideas

Hello and welcome back to the R6 Community Discusses Series!

The goal of this series is to open conversation on specific topics so players can share their feedback, suggestions, and share tips&strategies with their fellow players. We encourage newer players to ask questions and for our more experienced users to offer whatever advice they can on the subject. Any posts that detract from the discussion, target other users specifically, or are offensive in general will be removed.

This week I'd like to hear some of your ideas for new maps!

Have an idea for a cool setting or interesting building layout? Share your ideas! Have a floor plan in mind to offer some unique game play? Show us! Describe your map design and share any example images you can make!

Feel free to share your thoughts on the ideas of your fellow users but keep it respectful or your posts will be removed.

I look forward to reading your map design ideas!

Are interactable world elements a possiblity? I've always wanted a shopping mall/office complex type map where there are elevators you can either use to travel between floors or to use as a fake/distraction against enemies near them.
    Other sorts of ideas:
a cultist's church or a Vatican City type of map
a bunker that starts from basement level 1, down to basement level 3 (could be a good australia map, like a crime syndicate base in the middle of the opal fields, extrances hidden in plain sight, you'd have to rappel down the holes to enter the base)
    museum
    casino
anything open air, though that proves very difficult for having interesting verticality.
I think a simple house_2 map would be fine, maybe leaning more on the mansion side.

An elevator would be really cool if they could work it. Kind of along those same lines, it'd be cool to see automatic doors that slide open and give your position when you try to sneak past, or when you roll your drone over for a drive by.

First of all I would try to focus more on smaller maps, but with interesting intersections and vertical situations.
For example, on theme park, there are some dead areas with too linear layout (e.g. the whole ground floor area to the east).
As to a specific setting, I think you already got most of the iconic places, like plane, embassy, house etc.

Other settings that I think could be really cool:

    Submarine (anchored @harbor).
    Nuclear Plant
Maritim Museum / Zoo (seeing fishes swim by behind thick glass!)
Train (stuck in tunnel, so you can also advance outside the wagons, or ontop)

I want to play on a abandoned Hospital that would be a pretty interesting map to play on.

Another map would be a Abandoned Prison or underground bunker. The Attackers can enter in Via secret hatches

A fun map would be a shopping mall. Actually a shopping mall would be a great map to play in.

Make elevators functional in Bank, keep the hatches.

I really think the bunker would be great, as described by pyrokov. Pine Gap facility is one of the worlds most secure and closely guarded locations, right in the Aussie Outback. So the devs can use that for some inspiration surely.

Australians are proud of our sport though, and there could be a map designed around a sporting complex, such as one of our footy grounds. These grounds are huge though, so you would have to make it a section of the ground. These footy ovals have multiple levels, including an underground section for vehicles and players to move through. There are food stalls, members areas and pubs all in these footy grounds, so I think that something could come of this. You would be able to fight through a VIP section on the 3rd floor, either rappel or drop down an elevator to the 2nd, 1st or underground floors. From the underground you are able to come out onto the footy ground itself, and in game be able to cut across the ground or head up into the seating area to get a flank off. There also happens to be a National Sports museum in the ground im thinking off, this could also be incorporated.

Sorry for the long links, but these are some images from Google to give you guys some context.

This is the VIP viewing area, or one of them.

These two images show the underground ground entrances. The second one you can see it from across the ground, and the multi levels of the sports stadium.

dude, a footy arena would be awesome, maybe similar to the Madison Field Hospital in Division which was a repurposed sport facility. But yeah, it'd be great to have a bunker that went deeper down, rather than the standard kind of big building that goes up.
