A Brief Update On Our Progress

Hey, everyone! Steve from RedLynx here. I hope you're all having fun playing Phone Destroyer, and enjoyed the recent weekend event. I know I had a lot of fun testing out a deck full of cards I rarely use, and getting some rewards for doing so. In the future, you can expect more events like this, as well as events of other kinds (such as episode tie-ins, and etc.) Due to blazing forward toward worldwide release, these have been a little less frequent than we had initially hoped, but fear not: more awesome events are definitely coming!

One thing you may have noticed is that today we re-enabled ads. We tested this out, and gathered some data (including community feedback) to see if it produced a better and more stable experience for players. While we go through that data, we'll be turning ads back on until we come to a conclusion on which experience players prefer. For those players who are wondering why we can do things like this more easily than other fixes or balance changes, the answer is pretty simple: this is almost a "flip of a switch" type of change, and it doesn't require tons of work and testing, unlike what we're doing now.

    Our Next Update
So with the above said I'd like to share a little bit about what has been going on recently to keep the community on the same page, and let you all know what's up here at RedLynx HQ! At present, we're working extremely hard to get everything ready for a worldwide release. That means we are currently testing and validating a massive update, that has had an insane amount of work done on it. I'll have a big set of patch notes for you all soon (and that will include the drop date, which is still not set in stone due to testing and etc., but will be quite soon). In the meantime, I'll offer you a brief overview of what has been up.

    Teams and Arenas 🏆
As some of you may know, the next update will include the Teams feature. This is an awesome way to make the game more social, and allow players to share cards, and build their own communities in-game. You'll be able to form your own team, name it, set parameters for who can join, moderate your team, and even chat with other group members.

Arenas will also be added. Arenas are level-based tiers which will change where you fight, and more easily show which cards you can earn there, and what prizes you'll get for victories. It looks really great, and should help to avoid a ton of confusion.

    Bug Fixes 🛠️
This is a big one. Our next update will include a lot of bug fixes and stability and performance improvements. As we've said from the beginning, it's important to make the experience as close to perfect as we can get it, but that is no easy task. We're constantly working on improving performance, tuning anti-cheat mechanisms to stay ahead of potential cheaters, and increasing stability across the game. This is by no means a complete list - these are simply a few that popped up as critical to the community, so I've included them. Some bugs which will be fixed in the upcoming update include:
    - Draws causing lost stars, and wins not awarding stars
    - Issues with health rubberbanding
    - Crashes on launch
    - And a ton of other bugs, major and minor

I'll have a more comprehensive list of things like this when we announce the date we are dropping this update.

    Balance Changes ⚖️
There will be some changes to card balance coming with this update, as well as some fixes. The patch notes will have more detailed information, but don't expect things to stay static, for sure! We're looking at things like community created tier lists, and we pass this info along so that our team has a good feel for what players think, but it's important to remember that we do still want to experiment and make changes, and balance changes may be more frequent in the future.

So this and more will be going into our next update. In the future, I'll be working toward keeping the community more closely informed, and likely turn this into a video segment where you can snag a glimpse of my ugly mug. For now, however, I hope this keeps you up to date, and lets you know we are working hard on making this game even more awesome. If you have questions, feel free to drop them in the comments below!

Until next time, I'll see you on the streets of South Park!

    Love,
    Steve 🚀
