How the Melee works in Ghost War

So the melee was confusing us this week. Although it doesn't happen regularly due to the nature of the game, we kept getting the which button is it, the icon is intermittent comments etc etc

A quick check in a custom room revealed the issue, which is the restricted zone that the melee works in - i.e only when behind your opponent when they cant see you and within about 1 metre. I'm sure a lot of you had already worked this out, but for those struggling as we were, because usually both players are frantically dancing around eachother, then here's a video to show where the knock out function is active. You'll see the icon appear on screen

Yeah, I think a rethink needed on melee when close in for us players. You don't need to dodge you just need to turn and see who reloads first!

Thanks Blue. I had the same problem.

Of course, I wouldn't have to dance around the times that I did if the guy would have just gone down after the first 3-4 rounds that I pumped into him. ....reminiscent of typical shooters these days but that's another story for another thread.

That definitely explains a lot! Thanks for the information and demonstration!
Although, it's kind of disappointing, it might be restricted for balance purposes.

Would be interesting to have a sequence that tiggers when two players mash their melee key/button/stick simultaneously which would animate the players into a hand to hand brawl.

With lag on the network I'm not sure how you would resolve the fight fairly without a buddy slotting your opponent while you scrap it out.

Good to see it works this way. I'd rather not having players running up to someone firing at them and pressing the "I Win" melee button.
