Had to abandon a duel tournement after someone either quit or timed out but other people were able to play matches but I was stuck for a good 10 minutes until I quit on purpose

Edit: Im on playstation and the timeout occured on the quater-finals so I was stuck in "waiting for match to start starting soon" in semi-finals and after a bit the name of the timeout guy appeared.
