That's correct. It was a beta. It does not carry over.

Alpha tests nor Beta tests ever carry over, when the game or game mode have gone "gold" ie published for the public they all reset everyone back to 0 or 1 depending on the game. This is standard for I would say 99% of the gaming industry. Its so that no one has an unfair advantage over people who were not in the beta!
