    Editor Crashing

    Hi
tried searching the forum but found nothing.
I am having editor crashes when changing the water level and now my map will not open. Save with a water level above the general ground level of part of the map. Any ideas of a work around for this or do I just right this off and start again
Thanks for reading and any help.

I'm assuming you're on PC? Most PC Editor crashes are due to mods or bad graphics settings. It's recommended to not have the Editor set to a graphics level/Engine Quality higher than "High" or "Very High"; Ultra and higher seem to cause the crashes.

    Some remedies you can try:
    1. Start the Editor and Create a new map. Set the editor graphics settings to "Low"
    2. SAVE the map, choose a temporary name like "temp".
    3. Exit the editor, when prompted to save click "yes". This will save the new graphics settings.

After that, feel free to delete the temp map, and try opening your 'old' map again.
    Or,
To reset your Editor's graphics settings to default:
    1. Press WINKEY+R and type: "%UserProfile%\Documents\My Games\Far Cry 4" (without the quotes)
    2. Enter the uPlay hash profile folder you see there (something in the form of "18be263d-010e-4c9f-de9f-59775f2cb7a3", differs for every user).
    3. Delete the file "EditorGamerProfile.xml" in there.

And start the editor like normal.
Remember, it's best to edit maps in "High" or "Very High" Engine Quality. (Menu VIEW-->EDITOR SETTINGS, scroll down for ENGINE QUALITY)

Are you on PC or console? You will have less crashes if you set your editor video settings(Engine Quality) at HIGH. It won't affect how the map looks when played in-game. Also, it is a good idea to have a back-up save. It works better if you save often. Then what I do at the end of a work session is "save-as" and add a number at the end of the map name. That way if it gets corrupted you will only loose the work of your last session, not the entire map.

Thanks for help. I am on PC and I had increased graphic setting recently to see what effect it had and probably never turned the down again I will try your suggestions and defiantly save backups. Got out of the habit of that, must be old age.
    Thanks again

    Update
Thanks to you both, I turned video setting to low and all other editor settings to off and recovered map before adding a few settings back. and having a few backups of good saves.
Great to see people willing to help, hope I can start to contribute a bit more.

    Thanks
