I know that Ubisoft isnt big on modding on their games and especially on AC games, however as with this new installment the franchise is moving to a more RPG-like direction i would love to see them releasing an official modding tool like other games of the same style (you know for wich rpg games im talking about).
Theres only positive things coming out if theres official modding tools and/or mod support. Longevity for starters.
What you guys think?
Haha, i know what you mean but i didnt have the Skyrim wifu/bae or big beatifull bodies mods inmind, im talking about the ability to change or add gameplay functions and such mainly.
For example on the Witcher 3 i use mods to remove the minimap and add a compass like on Fallout, auto apply oils on my sword etc.
Ubisoft have been getting better and better at understanding PC gaming, so while I think it's very unlikely for Origins at this point in time, perhaps we might see it supported in a future AC game in a couple years. However, I think the bigger problem actually comes from having a larger community that has ideas and wants to mod these games. Previously, we have both normal and unofficial versions of these titles that have been dabbled with in the past, including the use of CE to improve population density or shadow resolutions and draw distances, adding Copernicus Conspiracy DLC to PC (including unlocking ULC), and in the early titles, cosmetics like UI changes and reskins, and texture overhaul projects to help them age better.
AC games in the past were too linear and didn't provide enough freedom and creativity to make players want to improve their longevity and find new ways to have fun with the open world and general gameplay, but with the direction Origins is heading, I can see the same modding community for other titles like MGSV, TW3 or BotW giving it a shake if the game is great. In all honesty, I just want a mod that great improves the balance in this game, because the number deficiencies in this game is absolutely horrendous from the footage I've seen. That and playing as Noctis.
It's not necessarily the nude mods. I don't mind people adding fun/silly stuff like that or putting Iron Man in GTA.Originally Posted by Dimv92 Go to original post
It's more the idea of fans taking creators' art and going "no, this is how you do it" that I take issue with.
There's something about it that's creepy to me. It's difficult to explain.
I wouldn't say it's an issue. We know developers aren't perfect and neither are their products. It's up to them to deliver the experience to the best of their abilities with the time and budget they have, and if they come up short on something, fans addressing it themselves are encouraged in many cases. It's the difference between turning a broken game to a playable one and a 60 hour game into a 1000 hour one. It improves the experience for anyone interested. I think the idea that it might be wrong comes from two places: 1. We are incompetent and shouldn't touch something that we supposedly understand--which is something I 200% disagree with, because it's a mindset that non-official works aren't as good, or even better, which is ludicrous and 2. in regards to MP experiences, it may give players an unfair advantage in these competitions--which I do agree is wrong, but that's different subject.Originally Posted by AnimusLover Go to original post
If you're thinking that developers somehow detest the idea that people are taking their product and changing it, they don't; the ones who may be against that are publishers because they're disconnected.
I would love to see mods in AC. Specifically the ability for users to create their own assassination contracts/challenges for other people to complete. They could employ the "rate this mission" system there, which has always felt out of place in the normal mode, but would be perfect for user-generated content.
There is the potential for questionable content like nude mods, of course, but maybe there are safeguards Ubi could implement for mods they deem unacceptable.
Ubi have released modable games I've played them. Silent hunter submarine games and the IL2 flying games have huge modding communities... some threads exceed 500,000 views...
Those guys add realistic plane and sub sounds and change the hud or instruments etc.... but they also add missions, I know FC had/ has map editors but I really like the idea of user created content, I think there are some great ideas made in GTA V by users.
I wouldn't mind a mission editor, I think some of the people on the forum could create some deviously difficult assassination or looting missions if they were allowed to place guards, set guard routes and maybe traps
Didn't Prince of Persia have a level editor or creator?
Six... will you stop typing so quicklyyou always get your post in before I finish typing lol
