So I'm finding that you can effectively wipe out entire camps of AI without raising the alarm because the dead body cleanup function cleans up the guys you kill before roaming patrols can check out the scene of the crime.
Can we get the dead body clean up on Extreme Difficulty modified to only clean up dead bodies if the player is beyond 1000 meters and once the enemy becomes aware of the player/s presence and starts hunting?
Thanks for your time.
Bodies will stick around for a varying period. Apparently, they will also stick around longer if you look in their direction but I don;t know what the logic is based on in respect to how long they remain visible.Originally Posted by Ironmatter Go to original post
IME, they don't disappear that quickly on Extreme difficulty but then again, that is the only difficulty setting I use.
I wasn't even aware they had another term for what is usually called "corpse stay". Maybe it was to keep people from complaining about it. I was wondering if the corpse longevity has more to do with the settings you're able to play on too. I'm a bit confused about this though. I know in some games indefinite corpse stay can affect frame rate, but why would it here when they're just lying motionless vs walking around and especially reacting to your presence. Or the fact that when they DO spot you, the frame rate doesn't tank when reinforcements are called in.
Seems to me they implemented this as a safeguard to keep it as optimized as they could, especially with such intricate world detail and long draw distance capability. I agree though, when you're playing Tier One Mode on Extreme and have pretty much mastered the gameplay, it's kind of disconcerting to see a guard walk right past a spot where you killed one of his buddies and not react, merely because that corpse magically vanished.
Can anyone tell me if the corpse stay is longer on higher settings, or do they vanish at the same rate regardless of settings? I'm going to be upgrading to a 1080 Ti soon, and I was hoping it would fix that problem.
Body doesn't stay because the AI enemy walks randomly and don't have a fixed position, walking route, and schedule in their activities, unlike stealth games with heavily scripted linear level design out there. Not only that, their number may be bigger as well depending on the size of the base. By having the bodies staying, you will be busted everytime you snipe from hundreds of meters away. Disappearing body feature is actually doing you a favor by not making you losing your sanity over a video game.
When you can clear an enemy camp without getting detected, then that's the point of the freaking game.
Sometimes I wish Ubi puts in a mode where the bodies stay just so I can see the 'body staying' supporters crying back in the forum after experiencing the backlash of their own suggestion.
From the little I have seen, this feature is random at best, sometimes I have killed a patrol dude just staying put outside the Armory (example) and there is another walking by oblivious of the dead compadre I just capped. Other times, I make sure there is no one around and as soon as I cap the baddy, someone yells out that they are being attacked. Other times there is nobody near by and the nearest guy is almost 100 to 200 meters away and he still screams that he found a dead body. Then again, my teammates are capable of seeing enemies on the other side of the cliff w/o having LoS (:
If I recall correctly the patch notes which introduced this feature, the purpose was to reduce insta-fails on stealth missions (or insta-detection for self-guided stealth incursions).
And I believe they stated- and this has matched my experience since that patch- that corpses would disappear as soon as their location was out of frame/off-screen for the player.
I have no explanations for any deviations from this behavior.
I also thought this had already been discussed, excessively I might add, and the Devs had said it wasn't going to be added, fix?Originally Posted by UbiInsulin Go to original post
