Visual effects get toned down with the new helicopter controls.

    The title says it all.

I just found out that some of the visual effects get toned down when using the new helicopter controls.
Those visual effects are mainly the environment reacting to the helicopter's rotor wind.
Like sand or dust blowing, grass or bushes, and water waving creating ripples as the rotor wind's blowing etc.
    Pretty awesome effects.

When using classic helicopter controls, however, these effects are restored to their original quality.
These effects get toned down only when the new helicopter controls are used.

I'm thinking that this is done intentionally as part of an optimization process when adding the new features to the game.
It makes sense since if new assets were to be added then the devs would have had to make sacrifices here and there.

What I want to say is that, just in case that this wasn't really intentional, can this be looked into?
I mean, the new helicopter controls are great so I'd like to play with that and keep those awesome visual effects intact.

And does this happen on PS4 Pro or XBOX X versions as well?

    I play on PS4, BTW.

No idea what you're talking about. I'm on PS4 as well and the dust is still thick when the heli is close to the ground so far I notice.

    Post some screenshots perhaps?

I'll try. But in the meantime, i suggest you take a helicopter, fly it to a lake or something, and hover close over the surface. And switch between new controls and classic controls. You'll see the difference. :-)

Ended up doing a video of it.

What I noticed is that it's not the effects that are toned down, but the rotor speed.
The rotor RPM is significantly lower on the new helicopter controls than on classic.

I think that's what's causing the issue here.

Nice! That's actually a good find. Very interesting to know this.

Yes, it looks like the rotor speed is significantly faster in Classic mode, causing the visual effect to dynamically changed following the impact. That's pretty cool detail.

The video is much appreciated! I'll send this along to the team. I'm unsure if it's intentional or not at this time.

Can anyone tell me what the difference on KB/M is between old style and new style heili controls? I'm using the new type. I can manage with it but it often feels sluggish trying to move sideways while going forward. I often have to slow forward progress just to swing sideways. I DO see dust kicking up, and foliage reacting to rotors though. Only odd thing visually with helis for me is when AI choppers fly right overhead, I see their rotor shadows briefly show as a vertical beam of a few shadows grouped closely together. It almost looks like an artifact.
