I don't play Tier 1 mode. I completed it, and now I only turn it on when I farm for resources. I still upgrade weapons, but very rarely, and only when I find one that I want to use when I rarely turn on Tier 1 for a few activities.

Tier 1 is "Stealth Mode" imo, so some missions aren't even achievable in practical terms. But it is a whole other mode of the game. I certainly wish that upon completion you could choose which level you wish to play at, but never the less when I turn on Tier 1 it's a different experience. Really I only upgrade weapons so that I can use them when I run little scenarios, go co-op, or whenever time I see fit to turn Tier 1 mode on.

Why you wouldn't complete it.. idk. PVP is coming out, my bet is they're gonna turn off the tap on PvE experience and co-op, and let it stand as it is. If Tier 40 is your preferred playstyle, more power to you, but the LVAOC Bad News is pretty sweet.

It is a frustrating and tedious grind.

So Tier 1 has an on/off switch? for lack of a better word.

How does this change the main missions? do they make the SB and Unidad even more God Like than what they are now when alerted, less or the same? or what does it actually do.

Yes, Tier 1 has an off switch.

If you're finding the SB and Unidad too much without it turned on, then my advice would be to not progress much past the level (35 I think) that forces Extreme difficulty only.

Can you accumulate surplus tier points?
Like suddenly go from tier 40 to tier 1 in one jump?

No. XP stops counting when you are due to upgrade to the next Tier ..
