Some pictures are going around that show the appearance to be that of Yoshimitsu.
Wearing a mask and holding swords in the fashion of modern day sword tricking practitioners.
I would like to suggest having the appearance of an unkempt kenjutsu master
Of course everyone knows Musashi, but perhaps Toshiro Mifune may inspire your outlook on Ronin as an addition to this game.
His movies with Akira Kurosawa have inspired Star Wars and many other great works.
As far as movesets maybe we can also have a full counter ability similar to the warden.
Although I like the Musashi concept of two swords, he often used a wood sword in duels.
Maybe a Zatoichi style weapon can be part of the concept?

And here I was half hoping the game would actually go full anime and include a Zanbatou (One of those huge swords that are famous from animes like Berserk, Ruroni Kenshin, Bleach, Naruto....)

I was hoping for a Wakizashi and kantana

I like Kenshin & a bit of Naruto, but anime games are already in circulation. I'm not really on FH to play Ninja Storm or Jstars VS +
FFVII is on it's way already too.
Wakizashi & Katana would be cool but a Zatoichi style blade can be used while sheathed and then reveal a wakizashi held in reverse grip when the scabard locks the enemy in a blocked stance
Like if a hero were able to block + GB for a held slash similar to PK or Shinobi Grab slash attacks
The same could be applied to Wakazashi/Katana moves though

If anime is an inspiration to this character I'd rather see a Madara Uchiha style full size scythe chained to a bansho fan instead of a buster sword
