Overall view of the Ghost War Beta

I have been waiting for this for years, it feels like. There has always been something special to me about GR and its community that has made the PvP stand out head and shoulders above any other PvP in any other game. It is like adults playing adults without the toxicity that came about as CoD started to dominate the market over a decade ago. It is like any other sport in real life where people just want to have a good game against like-minded people; an arena that is respectful in its competitiveness and all the better for it. Can you imagine enjoying any other leisure pursuit or sport in real life where the sheer hostility comes anywhere close to the kind of behaviours you find in on-line gaming? Gaming needs to claim the enjoyment back from the vicious, dog-eat-dog, trolling mentality that has gone on for too long. My biggest hope for GR Ghost Wars is that it provides the environment that takes us back to PvP being a game to enjoy in a friendly, social atmosphere rather than an ego-fueled epeen waving contest.

This is an incredibly good game mode, fresh and interesting and fun and it has been really enjoyable to see how much the community has taken to it. I couldn’t be happier and I’m going to have to stick with my highly articulate and not at all cringe-worthy, one word summary of PvP-alicious (groan).

We now know the game will be released on October 10th and it may seem too late to add feedback, but we also know that the Devs at the Paris studio have a track record established of listening to all and acting on crucial feedback - where it is feasible and within the creative vision for the game etc etc. I have separated mine into several posts to keep each topic specific and I note in advance that many others have already pointed out some of the things that I think would be good too. Some of you will also note that they contain points you may have seen before from me. I was going to try and acknowledge each aspect of the feedback to fellow community members who have made similar comments, but honestly there has been so much that it was taking me ages to find the posts among the sheer volume of fantastic feedback raised. Apologies in advance.

im excited too, and I feel the ghost recon community is a unique one, because it's distinct for a bunch of gamer's that like ghost recon alone. I find it pleasurable to talk with other people in Ghost Recon.

Nice thought out posts Blue. We can only hope feedback will continue to be implemented long after the release on the 10th.

    Cheers guys!

Yeah that was me, LoL. I was the last one they asked for the one word summary and I was wracking my brain to come up with something as it came round to me.

Not trying to disrespect. I personally think how the built Ghost War will only attract tactical-shooter players, which definitely would be the Ghost Recon-ers.

    But "without the toxicity"?

Man, from what I've seen so far in anything related to PvP and posted by PvP-ers no matter in GRW forums and social media, I honestly have to disagree with that point.

In all honesty, the "toxicity" I have seen typically comes from a select few who seem to revel in the angst they cause on these forums. I have to say that most I have dealt with on a more personal level (and for the most part in the overall population on the forums) have far more tact than the minority who choose to cause problems.

There are degrees of toxicity, and isn't that the point I'm actually making? That we need to move away from that and that my hope is GR can help enable it. It is more likely to attract mature gamers who like teamwork and a good battle and I equate those attributes as meaning less toxic behaviour.

Your view of "PvP-ers", which I am inferring from the way you wrote it, seems to be less than positive, and with the greatest respect that is part of the problem. It is a view on other people and not the game mode, based on your own view of that mode. If you look at the way the toxic members of this community behave, they don't express a view on the game as much as they express views on others. I'm not talking about you here, by the way, Kane, to be clear! Whether that be views on Ubisoft, the Devs or other members of the community their rhetoric consists mostly of personal attacks which are partly written out of frustration that people don't agree with them, or dare to like things they don't, and partly attention seeking.

As Kean points out, this community is actually a very good one with only a few who like to drink the "Hatorade". It's down to us what the community will be, but if you look at the beta feedback forum, it seems to me to be way less toxic than this sub and even in this sub it is relatively low compared to other games. The Hatorade drinkers here have never managed to get a large enough group together to poison the forum altogether. I expect Ghost Wars to be similar; it will have it's share of toxic idiots, but it will not be toxic as a whole.
