One of the problems of 4x4 modes is the completely thoughtless behavior of most players. Holdary, prescribing kurepit, Highlanders giving turntables, Nobushi and Centurions with a zone, etc. etc. And all this is surrounded by its team members. In most cases, players interfere with themselves and their teammates, knocking down combs and special tricks.
The ultimate solution would be the introduction of full-fledged damage in its own way. This would solve the problem of "gang bang" and make the gank more thoughtful. The player would have to think 10 times, assess the situation, before striking the opponent, already surrounded by partners. Plus, 4x1 skirmishes themselves would be less. They would have lost meaning after some Hardard cut his own team. The same applies to various bombs, traps, sweeps, etc. All bombs and traps must do their own same damage as enemies. There will not be Justov, who thoughtlessly throw up their arsenal of the "suicide belt". Catapult, stakes, arrows - all must deal equal damage to both their own and others. Why does Valkyrie drop the teammates by cutting, and cutting out Shinobi is a "bug" !? At the same time he quite successfully catches the teammates with his fishing rod. Where is the logic? All the list does not make sense, the essence is clear. One small detail cardinally changes the gameplay. Will make him more thoughtful and aware. It makes you take into account not your interests, but the interests of the team in the first place. And most importantly, the damage should be the same as for the enemy or at least 50%. Here we would be useful and PTS server. And then so far, that from him there is absolutely no sense at all.
And what do you think about this?
Other than a developer whose going to give you a P.C. version of 'no way Jose', I might be the only one who will answer you this one. Ever play online team gaming where your points are based on your kills before? Ever get mad at your team mates taking your kills you've really worked at and thought 'I wish I could kill his character for that!'? It'll happen for sure, or your team mate won't like something you've done, and it'll just turn into a team kill fest. Ask ANY gears of War, call of duty, battlefield, or even plants vs. zombies player. The answer is; "No, thank you very much".

I read this post this morning, sighed, thought about replying but then realised "I can't be bothered repeating myself over and over again, like that last 20 posts"Originally Posted by verifun Go to original post

I'm assuming you've never played counter strike then. Where TKing can be an ingame punishable affect. I still feel like it should be 100% FF. FF is highly punished. Deducting points and if you get too many TKs you'll be ejected from the game. I'd rather have FF to 100% it would demolish the idea of team rolling people with AoE attacks. Plus you can't lock onto your own team mate. You have to go very very far out of your way to cause damage, besides AoE. You can already block your team mates attacksOriginally Posted by verifun Go to original post
I feel like that punishment is too lenient, even if when you are booted you get a 10 min ban. 10 mins isn't enough to stop rage quitting so it won't stop a teammate for killing one or two teammates a game for a laugh. We already see this with the ballista on The Sentinel.Originally Posted by Howard_T_J Go to original post
My problem with making FF an feats, not just AoE, is what happens if you play as Valkyrie and you throw a spear (or a similar feat for other heros) and the off chance you hit a teammate, that's a large chunk of damage. What about a teammate and I are fighting off the whole enemy team, I throw a grenade as Lawbringer and accidentally kill my teammate?
What about the bots, who usually can't tell the difference between friend and foe anyway? I can't count how many times I've had a friendly bot start attacking the same player as me and slam 3 side heavies into my side in succession. That will be heaps of fun I'm sure.
Maybe a approach similar to Rainbow Six Siege would be more acceptable in my eyes, but I still say no to increase FF.
100% FF is just too much. People are too stupid to use their attacks smartly even if the situation should be very clear. Since you have blocked communication channels in For Honor most of the time this would just lead to frustrating game experiences. Plus without a thorough punishment system trolls and griefers would have an incredible platform and you even have that in CSGO on basically every level due to smurf accounts or people simply not caring for their rank whilst others do (and thus get frustrated at times and get disruptive if a match does not go the way they want right from the beginning or a certain point) and it's terrible. You can see that here already on so many occasions on the forum. So many whiny kids complaining that they join late into a match or even more ridiculous that a match is lost if you start with a couple of bots in the beginning and hence throwing the whole thing right away. Such bull cra p ! Especially since it just does not take long until bots get replaced by actual players and scorecards can be turned around by a little bit of strategic game play in most cases.
Anyhow proceeding to the topic yet again: You cannot cancel your attacks at all times. Whilst in CSGO you have much more control over what you do until the very moment you shoot and even whilst shooting, in For Honor you are bound by a set of restricted and overseeable animations with certain speeds and recovery times which more often even force to queue actions before to execute them timely and thus having not much control in the moment at all. How many ledge kills everyone got by mistake for example simply because they could not stop and interfere with their actions anymore.
Just tuning up Friendly Fire is not a solution, it's just a game killer. You would need to change a lot more than that as in for instance providing more control to the player's action and having adequat punishment systems, communication possibilities and what more...
Besides, why open up a new thread for this? There are plenty about that topic already and not even that old. Just use the search function for once will ya and pick up on the points already discussed so that those people don't have to repeat themselves in every new post again and again
Friendly fire is one of those things that will always have two groups with opposing opinions. With FF, team-killing and increased team toxicity is a much bigger issue, but without any FF players don't need to think twice before trying to be a hero and charging in without a second thought. So we'll evaluate and weigh the options - and from there we'll try to make our best judgement call based on what we believe will be the best for the health of the game.
