Hi Guys
Just wanted to say that I am still playing and enjoying ghost recon wildlands. Just wanted to share a few ideas as I think the foundations in this game could lead to an exceptional sequel/ follow up ghost recon. I have deliberately kept it short tried to suggest changes/ additions that won't require a new game engine to be built.
I have plenty more ideas so if you like these and want to hear more, please let me know. I have separated it into 3 parts.
PART 1- World Design
1- Smaller and more focused. Perhaps 5-8 really well-done areas with attention to detail, polish which would save heaps of space for other features/ mechanics (Rather than 20+)
2- More indoor areas with a well-designed layout for multiple approach strategies/ mission types.
PART 2- Gameplay mechanics/ animations
Our character has the ability to...
A- Dive (such as metal gear solid 5)
B- Move cover to cover (splinter cell blacklist)
C- Roll sideways in prone position (such as metal gear solid 5)
D-,Run and slide into cover (splinter cell blacklist)
E- Climb if appropriate in level
F- Lethal/ Non Lethal takedowns
G- Drag and move bodies
Breaching doors both indoors and outdoors
- A- Pick-lock (stealth)
- B- Flat pack breach (loud) (like rainbow six)
- C- Shotgun breach (loud), shoot 2 hinges and lock (an animation to get into the room after pressing square for example)
- D- Sledgehammer through door (loud)
- E- Kick door down (loud and fast)
PART 3- Replayability
Love coop, and looking forward to pvp. Although it is fun to run through some missions again and try different approaches, it can get a bit boring after a while. The Fallen ghosts DLC was excellent as the new enemy types forced us to change tactics and think.
It would be great if you could add a larger variety of different enemy types/ abilities, so you couldn't simply "tag and one tap" all the enemies in a base and move on.
Post campaign idea- Customisable mission types/ mode
The areas would be mini sandboxes used from the main game, but fortified in a specialised way to create a tailor made approach to that area. It would force the player to adapt their role either solo or with friends. The skill involved in completing these missions would keep bringing people back and would make for some excellent youtube content (great for marketing the game).
Perhaps for DLC, Ubisoft could release new maps/ areas/ scenarios over a long period to keep the community alive and engaged in the game for far longer. Look at the success of seige over the last 2 years.
Some of the options migh include
A Mission type- hostage, escape, hack computer, plant bug, assassinate, etc
B Enemy number- high, medium, low etc
C Enemy types/ faction- influences how hard we want the mission to be and what strategies we need to use according to the enemy type
D Time of day- nighttime, dusk, day
E Weather type- foggy, sunny, rainy, snowing etc
F Area/ base type- military base, prison compound, village, villa, docks, undercover apartments, house
G Enemy alert stage- are they expecting attack and ready, completely unaware?
H Base defences- cameras, mines, trackers, laser alarms, floor panel alarms, additional reinforcments, air support, extra reinforcements at entrances.
E.g. There was one side mission in Fallen Ghosts called resuce the VIP which was based in a villa. It was the only one with a variety of enemy types and required real skill to get in undetected. (I thought this is so much fun! Why have they not done more of this!).
I hope you like some of these ideas and they seem realistic. Looking forward to hearing your feedback.
more focus/time spent on spotting and fixing bugs/glitches/errors etc in the main game/dlcs/expansion content BEFORE they are released and people pay money for them.
im not expecting 100% perfect content. thats what patches are for.
however i was not impressed with the amount of these immediately identifiable issues in GRW, or that many still exist from day one and keep happening with newly released dlc.
ubisoft you can do better.
Lots of good ideas homecius. I especially like the breaching Idea along with an expansion of buildings and towns/cities.
I'm also a huge advocate for some sort of mission generator to be included in the core game so I'm glad to see other people bringing up this topic. This would be a major boost to replayability if they would implement it.
IMO, I think future additions should be to the base game and not stand-alone DLCs like FG or NR.
Honestly, I'd keep the current game but with more efficient means/platform for improvements. These locked-in attributes of the game make community requests difficult to meet even as simple as they seem. We just need that good building platform so all of these ideas can be more easily implemented.
Well I definitely don't want any kind of PVP at launch, in fact I don't even want mention of PVP for at least 6 months after launch.
I want really simple aircraft controls. Like 1 button/1stick to control. That goes for all vehicles, 1 button does everything- streamlined.
There are way too many weapons in the first game, lets maybe keep things down to like 1 AR, 1 SMG, 1 or 2 different sniper rifles, maybe a handgun to mix things up.
I can't keep up with all the different enemy types and factions and rebels, just make 1 other person in the game world. Sometimes we have to kill them, sometimes we have to rescue them, whatever- just make sure there's only 1.
The option for tactical reload.
Quick time events.
I wouldn't mind short 15-30 second advertising clips popping up every once in awhile to earn ubisoft credits
Could we incorporate our facebook accounts into the game? Like create fake profile in the real world, have them be drug dealers, and get them to follow your real facebook account, for imershion.
I want to be able to access my IRL phone through the game, I have a galaxy s3, and I wish I could text and call freinds, order a pizza, etc without breaking imershion.
We should have the option to play as any 21st century president.
More meele/street fighter meets mortal combat mechanics
OUr characters should have the ability to think 9/11 was an inside job (and comment about it)
Defintely more crafting. I want to craft more medicines, more ammo types, more cities
If I think of anything else I'll edit, but you can call this my demand list, my manifesto, the ramblings of a genius, the new 10 commandments, etc.
Some really great ideas here.Originally Posted by homecius Go to original post
I would definately like to see following on from you have mentioned,
Overall, less arcadey more military SIM...
1) Deeper customisation. Not only for the player but the ability to customise your squad, their names, appearance, load out.
2) More comprehensive control of your squad.
Ability to separate them and give individual commands!
Ability to choose RoE (like R6Vegas)
--> Return Fire Only
--> Weapons Free
3) Definately lethal and non lethal Takedowns! Maybe the ability to equip and in equip the knife?
4) ability to equip scuba/diving equipment and swim under water.
homecius, these are some excellent ideas.
Ubisoft, please take note!
I like the idea of fewer well polished maps, but I also like the idea of new maps being released (I would prefer either monthly or bi-monthly release). It would be cool if the new maps expanded the main game and its world, but additionally it would be cool to use each map as standalone sandbox for customized game modes (co-op vs AI enemies).
Ghost Recon Wildlands really has so much potential-- so many people have written suggestions for a great sequel or even a season 2 for the current game.
LaMOi, I really wanted the Ghosts to shoot from the water as well. I thought it'd be great to stealth swim to enemies on shorelines and pop up out of the water and dive back down to avoid detection. Deep diving and scuba upgrades would be a cool optional skill.
Homecius some great points , but some of those could/should have been added to our current game.
BronzyMarrow .. top point. If they want the early players to put up with that , then some sort of compromise regarding price / refund or DLC should be forthcoming
Won't ever happen i know , i'm dreaming . But its not right.
A return to a straight forward military based mission, would be good, but I am more than happy with a single open world map. I finally completed the campaign last week and the coherent nature of the one big mission area gave me an essential sense of continuity to the story being carried out in the order I chose. Some more distinction in the mission environments would be better though.
The single biggest thing I'd change without a moments hesitation is to add a deeper level of AI control and options for the single player. Also a change in difficulty levels to make them with less help to the player (revives and load out for example) rather than just an increase in AI awareness and ability.
Whether or not we'll see a Wildlands 2 I don't know, but we'll certainly see another Ghost Recon.
I don't want a smaller world. First of all the environment art team has nothing to do with the game mechanics, second I don't see how the world wasn't polished. Don't mention too little life here - that's a performance issue, so a smaller world would do less than nothing to help here.
I never was a fan of big internal missions, I liked it in GRW with the hand full of locations that had it. If I want inside missions I can play Rainbow 6 games, GR is outdoor focused and I like that. Besides that - indoor requires a lot more items, rooms,... making it hard to combine it with open world level - ever wondered why ARMA has no furniture in the cities? That's why. So for me its not worth the effort to make it a bigger part of the game than we had it in Brookhart's mission.
What I definitely want is the customization for squad (looks and weapons) and proper squad commands. That is a huge complaint for me at the moment. Add to that a proper (realistic) inventory (I don't need that many things... most of which I never use).
Also - as mentioned by so many - give us some random mission generators or something if possible. I love that Wildlands gives me a perfect sandbox to create my own, but still a couple of generated side missions would be great.
And yes - less casual gameplay would be beneficial. Right now you can finish the game without using C4... Even when you are attacking comm-attenas Unidad places explosive barrells on their bottom to make sure a single shot gets the job done...
