Once I completed the initial twenty matches after winning four consecutive tournaments, I progressed to gold tier and somehow managed to bypass bronze and silver. Now that I'm at gold tier, in every ten players, 6 of them are wardens, three will be centurions and the rest will be Orochis. It appears that everyone just turtles just to try and progress to platinum tier.
This mode is making it obviously clear that the turtle meta is still present and that players are willing to exploit it and exploit heroes such as the warden or centurion and their broken mechanics such as the vortex for the warden and the never ending punch spam of the centurion. Get rid of the turtle meta. It is practically rigging the tournaments.
We know the turtle meta hasn't been fully addressed still and we're working on it. The biggest def meta changes that we had plans for, the update to parry mechanics, parry in OOS, parry in revenge, received a lot of mixed feedback when we first introduced it - so we made the decision to pull it back into the lab for some more updates and testing.
We will be having another PT soon with the new parry update, and if that's a success, then we'll be able to implement it - and hopefully extinguish the overexcessive turtling and def meta.
You need to sort something out about the spam as well. Since it is a competitive mode, everyone spams the mechanics of their hero and they're draining the fun out of the tournament. People are just desperate to win so they will either vortex with the warden, repeatedly bash with the lawbringer with the unavoidable light attack, punch with the centurion or guard break the heavy with the orochi. There is no fun aspect of the tournament when you get to gold tier.
