I have a way to balance the Shinobi properly and not have to break him with damage
Ok, I have done almost NOTHING but play Shinobi for a month now trying to figure out how to make this hero work again.... and I have actually come up with something that works, and after getting feedback from other players; they also feel is a good idea.
Current Issues:
1. SEVERELY LOW HELATH
2. Heavy attacks are SLOW, VERY SLOW
3. Mediocre damage
4. An enemy can Guardbreak your long distance pull and long distance attack. <------ THIS IS THE BIGGEST ISSUE
So as a Shinobi player, my range is my greatest tool next to my quick light attacks and teleport strike dodge attacks; WHICH TAKE PRACTICE! lol
We even have a backflip that we can use all the time to create separation from our opponent. WE ARE DESIGNED TO BE ELUSIVE AND DISTANT. It is what separates me from other heroes, and it is what makes me deadly, and even more deadly from outside angles in dominion matches.
But once you get beyond novice player base; EVERY SINGLE RANGED ATTACK WILL BE GUARDBROKEN, and I will end up on my back long enough for even the slowest opponent with ANY kind of experience to hit me with a heavy attack. Thing is, two heavy attacks and Shinobi is dead.... VERY dead. again, we have NO health pool.
What's worse is that all the other heroes can GB you even after a successful kick or knockback. (They aren't even standing balanced, they are flying backward, yet somehow they can GB my pull to bring them back in for the combo??)
Furthermore, you can also be guardbroken out of your teleport dodge, and out of your kick... its so infuriating currently that the only way to play a shinobi and still win maybe only 40 percent of you matches is to fight dominion, and poke heroes from outside their fights.
HERE IS HOW WE FIX HIM.
1. Just take away the ability to GB the shinobi during kick and teleport dodge.
They both cost me ALOT of stamina, and its insane to punish me for it, when all an experienced player has to do is stay locked on me, and block, and I have to disengage or get WHAPPED! lol
2. A passive ability only Shinobi would have right now: I call it, "RECOVERY"
This has nothing to do with stamina or health. So don't worry.
Here is what I call "RECOVERY" would do:
Any time you are guard broken and brought to the ground, the Shinobi has the natural ability to jump back up onto his feet and recover, using the "recovery jump" animation from martial arts (which you currently see anyway), in HALF the time it takes other heroes to recover from being knocked down.
This means that heroes can no longer get a HEAVY ATTACK off on the Shinobi for FREE every time the opponent does a simple guard break against a pull or ranged attack. They could get a light attack in, but they would have to be quick about it.
By implementing these VERY SIMPLE changes, you would not have to touch Shinobi damage and jeopardize causing balance issues, you don't have to touch attacking timing, and you don't have to touch the stamina either.
You simply make him more energetic, and versatile in his fights one on one.
Let me know if you guys think this could work. I think it could. I have gotten VERY good at the Shinobi over the last month, and I don't think he is trash, I just think he is too easy to counter with simple GB. Take that away with a natural ability, and he's pretty balanced.
