Agents, incoming State of the Game transmission:
During the last State of the Game, Community Developer Hamish Bode met with Creative Director Terry Spier and Lead Designer Keith Evans from Red Storm Entertainment to preview the West Side Pier map expansion coming in Update 1.8.
This week, Terry and Keith joined Petter to provide an exclusive look at the new 4-player PVP mode, Skirmish.
If you missed the stream you check out the VoD.
Weekly maintenance completed this morning with no issues.
We’ve done a ban wave for many users abusing the RPM glitch. Remember that this glitch is a bannable offense, and more ban waves will be implemented if necessary. Multiple offenses will result in a permanent ban to player accounts.
Again, if you missed the 1.8 Skirmish preview, be sure to view the VOD above.
As the new PvP mode, Skirmish is characterized by more gunning/less running. Teams will fight in this first-to-20-kills TDM, with arenas being roughly the size of the DZ landmarks. Skill-based matchmaking will be employed to keep games balanced, and Last Stand normalization will apply in Skirmish as well.
Last Stand ranking will become an overall PVP ranking, with Skirmish being included under this umbrella. This means that playing both Last Stand and Skirmish will increase one, consolidated PVP rank that is now capped at 99. Players can expect Classified Caches among other rewards for increasing their overall PVP rank.
Gear Optimization is the next evolution of gear-improvement in The Division. This allows players to chase the perfect build by rolling best-in-slot statistics for every piece of gear available. Gear Optimization Stations will utilize D-Tech as the primary currency. As a result, World Tier 5 now ranges from 256 – 286.
In Update 1.8, Gear score will reflect the quality of rolls on all items. We wanted to provide a simple indication to players of how powerful gear is, and so items will be given an individual gear score.
Remember that a PTS for 1.8 is on its way, but no date is available yet. We are currently finalizing a schedule for the next Global Event as well.
We have a fix for the RPM glitch, but it requires a client-side patch. We understand the community is requesting a fix as soon as possible. As there are usual certifications with console patches, we are aiming to push the fix to PC first.
Stamina and Toughness are being adjusted in 1.8 to allow players to push further into PvE content.
Changes to the Rogue System are coming! Rogue 2.0 will introduce a voluntary toggle for going Rogue, thus preventing unwarranted friendly fire in the Dark Zone. Next week’s State of the Game will address further changes to the Rogue System, so be sure to stay tuned!
As always, be sure to join us over on the Official Forums or on the community Reddit if you’re looking for a place to discuss all things related to The Division.
Until next time!

Here's an idea...Regarding the DZ here for a moment; ON TOP OF "RIDDING" THE GLITCH(ES), how about you bring some beef back into the game. The AI are insanely soft; I know they've toned them down A LOT - Think about it, if you're MAYBE like myself you may remember a time when going in the DZ was super fun, I personally didn't notice the "rogue presence" (NO, I do not knock it; it's just not for me, etc.). Even earlier this year the AI in the DZ were not as mushy and soft, if you will, as they are now; point with this is that WHEN the AI were actually challenging, there was minimal presence of people going rogue.......Are you getting me here; for those that just want to go in the DZ and do whatever they want, again I'm not judging, we all have things we do on the game that we prefer more than others. In any case, TOUGHEN UP THE LANDMARKS, THE EXTRACTIONS, THE DZ IN GENERAL; A LOT....A LOT of issues could be addressed but this thread got me thinking. So, and I know for a fact I am most certainly NOT alone in saying that I really do not enjoy or even have fun in the DZ anymore, not like I used to. People avoid going in there unless they really want to finish their daily or weekly's but for the most part, more people have been saying they don't in the DZ because they just can't stand it and no longer enjoy it. In summation for this particular, while it may seem like a trivial topic/idea, is still a viable one that would bring more back to the game - That I still continue to play aside from many qualms with it but am and have been sick and tired of Ubisoft/Massive's SUBPAR, beyond subpar treatment of YES, THE PEOPLE THAT SUPPPORT THEIR/YOUR PRODUCTS. TREAT YOUR CUSTOMERS, SORRY, PAYING AND LOYAL CUSTOMERS BETTER. In closing this time I'm taking out of my day regarding something that is the job of the developers, etc., this is the last Ubisoft game (notice I did not say Tom Clancy game) that I will be purchasing; that ship has long sailed. Food for thought......Also, the more fed up and disgusted I tend to get with the products, services, "support" etc., I'm sorry to say but not really - Hey maybe submit and take all the money that Vivendi has had hostile bids over for a while now....SUBMIT. Take the money and leave with some remaining respect that you may have with customers. Ubisoft 10 or so years ago give or take = YES, THAT IS THE UBISOFT I GREW TO LOVE. Whomever is reading this, save your snarky comments; it could be worse and I could write a whole diatribe about The Division alone....I'll spare you all, honestly could care less about THE NEXT MASSIVE UPDATE COMING TO US WHEN? Eh, I don't even care anymore; last update wasn't that great to be honest; GE for example, over and done before you knew it and that was actually a small breath of slightly (stagnant) fresh air into the game.
