Warlord main heartbroken over new nerf...

Well, I thought the warlord was nerfed into the dirt with the last major patch affected him. No more head butts from full-guard. Make head butt slower. Slower heavy attacks from full guard. Damage lowered. Throw distance zeroed out.
I mean, DAMN! Who wouldn't be pissed about that nerf if this was your main? However, I soldiered on. I stayed loyal to my warlord. I learned to adapt. I learned to play him almost better WITH the nerfs. It didn't make him unplayable, but only more difficult to play. I made new strategies. After all, even though warlord his throw distance was what REALLY made him overpowered out of all those things, he had enough in his repertoire to still be viable... if not top tier.

Now another nerf comes! Warlord may not CGB from full guard. Slower light attack. Slower heavy attack. Less damage. Slower Headbutt. Longer dash, making dodging useless if there is a followup attack or GB.

    Well, crap. NOW he's unplayable.
Let's explain this to the dev's and all the kids that complain on reddit. The warlord has TWO combos. Same as Conqueror. (Remember, there have been cries for a Conq buff.)
The warlord does not have a chargeable attack, unblockable, or utility move. (Bleed, knockdown, initiates wallsplat) Conq has the advantage there.
He DOES have a push. However, the push distance is laughable now, and so is the stumble after the throw. Also, it does not have anywhere near the level of tracking that Shield Slam, Elbow, Tackle, or Shove have. Thus making it near useless outside of ledging or lucky knockdown situations.
The Warlord had already been nerfed for his attacks from full guard, due to Conq having only one option. So now, all the Warlord can do is heavy slash to the right. Somehow, people keep falling for it. (not our fault.)
The ONLY TWO redeeming qualities of warlord are the fact that his heavy attacks have armor, and his area attack is quick as hell. Trading with him has always been a poor decision. Making someone swing after a feint is normally ALWAYS a guaranteed area attack. It also has decent damage, about equal to 3 lights.

I support the no CGB from full guard. That needed to be changed, but how does any of this other idiotic crap make sense? They are taking a mediocre character AT BEST in duels, and making him so unusable, that he won't even be viable in Dominion anymore.

I followed this game since it was first announced. I loved it despite all the salt being flung by the community, and the nerfs by all the reddit turds that basically just cry every time they die. Wasn't this supposed to be different styles, strengths, and weaknesses for different characters? Not "these 3 are the only good ones." This game was supposed to be Vikings vs Knights vs Samurai. Now it's turned into "favorable characters vs. what people hate on reddit."

I'm done. This was the final straw.
This was the video game I'd always dreamed of, and you've turned it into my biggest disappointment.

Who wouldn't be pissed about that nerf if this was your main?
There are people out there who main classes so average and low tier, they couldn't get any more nerfed. The Warlord has been top tier since launch, I think we can endure a month where he's just mid tier.

    Well, crap. NOW he's unplayable.
No one has played him with these nerfs yet, maybe we could at least give it a chance? If you start getting slaughtered consistently by Kensei's and Berserker's, then we'll talk about unplayable.

They are taking a mediocre character AT BEST in duels
Yeeaaah nooo. Warlord is most famous for being top tier, and very good in duels.

Wasn't this supposed to be different styles, strengths, and weaknesses for different characters?
That's the thing though; For the majority of For Honor's lifespan, Warlord didn't have weaknesses. He was the perfect character. Lets try out this new version for a spell before we pass judgement.

Kensei's and Berserker's largely have been crying for buffs, or better balancing for months, and months, and with the last patch they even nerfed the Berserker.
I see no reason Warlord shouldn't still be viable in the hands of skilled players.

    1. The DMG stats are balanced pretty good.

    2. No CDG on Full block stance = turtle with FBS isn't that easy anymore

    3. Dodge recovery

Forward: from 400 to 500 ms (it was the second lowest recovery, the only one who is faster is Warden with 300)
Side: from 500 to 700 ms (500 is the highest side recovery in-game)

There is nothing unfair here, he is a heavy class with nearly no disadvantages, Warlord can manage some sidehits.

    4. 300 ms delay for his headbutt... that's argueable - but to get real feedback on it, you need to use it.

    5. Yey they fixed his parry punish nice work - but Warlord mains, don't cry, you can still parrypunish into light poke, you can still turtle your way into our hearts, it just takes longer
From high stamina dmg and a safe heavy, down to reasonable stamina dmg and only a safe light with 10 dmg.

Now you have to rely more on mix ups and chains like most other heroes, instead of safe dmg.

That's a huge problem in a game like For Honor - due to the "restrictions" called the small movesets an possibilities most heroes have, safe dmg is poisen for this games flow.
Parry gives free dmg -> result, turtle meta and rely much on parry.

I used to think it was perhaps a tad too severe, but after seeing the reasoning behind it as laid out by many other players, including S0MI above, I'm now currently in the opinion that it's a fair nerf.

I've been playing fighting/PvP games WAY TOO LONG to laugh or cry each time something changes with a class/character you play.

Fighting gamers and PvP enthusiasts are more than anything, survivors and adapters. Something changes? We simply adapt accordingly. So it's no biggy at all if you really think about it. I usually play the classes/characters I play because I like their style and characteristics, visuals, portrayal, etc etc.. I don't play it solely on the reason it's strong or not. If anything this is really the moment Warlord enthusiasts can really prove they've been so strong because they were good players, not because their favored class was easy mode, no?

So relax. If the WL is too "weak" for your taste, then just move on to a new class. Good time to try new classes that might fit you. If you still like the WL, then keep on playing.

Take a deep breath, and just think "it's no biggy" -- because it ain't.

The warlord was never a problem for me ever. People just didn't know how to play him. My mains go raider, WL Highlander then zerker. I never ran into a WL I couldn't deal with and was completely out of my league. I can't believe people complaining about the hb. It's one one the easier unblockables to dodge, it deals one light damage and takes none of your stamina. Should he have been nerfd probably, but they screwed him into the ground while we still have the cent and gladiator who, by far and away, are the best two in the game

Me too, I never had real problems fighting Warlords. He is a hero that isn't that easy to utilize his full potential.

I understand the overall FBS "nerf", the dmg "balance" is somewhere understandable as well. The higher recovery is now comparable with other heavy classes and not with assassins or vanguards.
But the headbutt delay ... mhh, OK, but then pls buff him somewhere else.

Give him a Heavy - Heavy chain for some mix-ups and a higher OOS punish (his Current OOS is right side heavy and top light = 50 dmg)

YUP JUST LOGGED IN FIRST TIME IN A FEW WEEKS, I'M DONE

Listening to all these ******s on their little effeminate characters cheer because the Warlord is now weaker, slower, takes less damage with not easily spammable chain stun or unblockable attack, while they are all playing the exact same two or three classes is beyond stupid.-----

All other classes do is spam chain stuns over and over and people say Warlord had no skill. The game was attack, block, counter attack, if I wanted gimmicks I'd play Street Fighter or something which is essentially what this game has become

as a rep 24 warlord i cant help but completely dissagree with you.
warlord is so nerfed since launch hes a completely different character.
hes no longer viable against matchups like shaman, gladiator and many other fast stamina draining characters.
before his nerfs my skill level with him was quite high. k/d was at 2.35, since nerfs its dropped into the negatives.
and sure, everyones going to say "get good", or "people just got better at playing", i play this game every day. at least an hour or two a day. since the open beta. when i use the same stamina draining characters i tend to win more often than not.
and the fact that its a very common complaint should tell you something.
the meta has changed, yes but then make him usefull in other ways, his heavy startups are too easy to interrupt with lights or grabs or pretty much any move making the fact that theyre uninteruptable absolete. his headbutt is slow and does little stamina damage, his light parry is entirely useless, his top light is useless and his dodges are so slow youll almost always going to get grabbed even if your enemy is mid attack. his entire appeal was parrying but since defense is being phased out of the game theyre rendering the character himself useless. his moveset is so small that everything he does is entirely predictable, his only viable combo is headsplitter, headbutt, stab. if you can even land the headsplitter. his full block is too risky and youll almost always get grabbed in high level fights because full block startup is slower than most light attacks, his damage output is very low compared to other heavies especially since his highest damage punish is the headsplitter combo which is one of the weakest finishers in the game.
im not saying he needs to be like he was, but he needs a complete rework to be a usable character in high level duels.

It blows my mind seeing people still trying to say that the warlord is still a good character "you just need to learn to play him well" I main him, and played him constantly. He's literally been nerfed out of the game. I know it pisses people off when they get ledged by a warlord, but other than his parry punish (which is now useless) it's really all he has. His damage was lowered, his attack speeds have been upped to much that anything faster than him can keep him stunlocked if you try to swing back. His recovery time has been upped so much that if you get vortexed by a warden you literally can't get out of it (and his dodge speed was lowered). Also, they took a MASSIVE chunk of defense out of the game, so as a defensive character, he's completely useless.
