As A Veteran Gamer I decided to pick up this game despite the Mixed reviews. I should have listened.
While the game play is original, refreshing and addicting! The Core of the game, the PvP is the most frustrating I've ever played. I wont recommend, and I wont purchase a season pass, or any future items for these reasons: Ordered from most frustrating to least
Only 1 playable PvP type: While Dominion is fun, I'd like to try some of the other modes, just not enough players.
Solution: Make the rewards equal to or slightly better then Dominion.
Matchmaking: I cant believe as a 0 Rep I am asked to fight a 100+ Rep. Please use toon Rep and account Rep and limit the difference we can Match. I feel like I am in a cruel game of feeding sheep to a wolf. A 0 gear score versus an 180 gear score is just cruel.
Solution: Seems pretty self explanitory
Cheese Factor: While the current season pass char's are a entirely different mechanics and more difficult to face (Minus the Ninja imo). I feel they are over powered. I can go into detail about each but the centurion is a nightmare. I just give up when he gets near because I know I cant defeat him. I'm not sure what it is but he just slaughters me with unblockable attacks. I feel like I could get this char and tell my 8 year old sister the button combo and watch her wreck the other team.
Solution: Idk, add some sort of cool down so I can at least escape then next attack.
Hackers: I've notice 2 types of hackers. One that kills you with a right heavy swing, even though the Icon and Animate said left. And the block anything hackers that pop revenge every 10 seconds. I've been in a 3v1 where we are all on different sides and the guy perfectly blocks everyone's attack. I'm sure a quick log or database Query can find these. I know there are great, quick players out there but when a lawbringer wipes your entire team in a 4v1 every 3rd game there is a serious problem.
Solution: Query the logs, if people are blocking left and right attacks within .5 sec's you know its hacking. Yes it can happen consitantly over a 10 to 30 second period, then its a hack. Maybe implement Screen shots mid battle to look for watermarks or those ESP box's.
So other suggestions to make the game play feel more like you can strategically win instead of gang bang win is:
*Add a longer respawn time. an extra 5 seconds wont hurt the A.D.D too much.
*Reduce the environmental death traps by 25% to 50%.
*Add an extra .5 sec to defend against guard break!
I don't fully understand the War Map. We are a mixed group going up against a mixed group. Should I not attack the guy on the other team of the same faction and kill steal from those on my team of opposite factions?
It was a fun weekend, but I need to not play. It is 1 of the most stressful games simply by design and game mechanics.
As much as everyone talks about how easy it is to parry everything and dodge everything, and how every heavy attack is always going to be parried forever, etc. etc. etc., For Honor is a difficult game to play well. There's a lot to know about every class, and it takes a lot of raw time and practice to get a good feel for everything. Then you won't see some class for a while, and when you see it again your muscle memory is off and you can still get wrecked again.Originally Posted by Michael2944j Go to original post
So really, if you are a new player, you will need to make sure you expect to lose to things that feel really difficult to fight against. Cent is something special with how punishing it all feels, but even then, you need to be able to swallow the loss and just keep trucking.
Also, two things you may not know that you think might be hacks:
1. Zone attacks, especially Warden and Orochi, can show an attack coming in on one direction before the zone starts, because light attack is pressed first, then the heavy attack is pressed to trigger the zone. I'm not sure how they are supposed to really fix that properly, but that in particular isn't a hack. I otherwise haven't ever seen an attack show one direction but land on another.
2. In a 1vX, if you block one person's attack, you get all-directional block for a short period of time which will block any other attacks that come in. Also, if the 1 has a person in the middle targeted in a 1v3, the person on his right will always be blockable with a right block, and the person on his left will always be blockable with a left block. it doesn't matter if these side players use a top, left, or right, the attack will always come in on that side for the defender. As a result, it's extra easy for the player to block you if he doesn't have you targeted in a 1vX, and if your attack lands first, and is blocked, he'll also block the other players. It isn't a hack, it's just how the game works.
In general, as a new player to any game, defaulting to "he's hacking" or just giving up against certain heroes/races/factions/whatever won't ever net you a healthy experience. Also, a longer respawn time is going to give even more advantage to players who group up and run around, because winning individual fights will be higher value.
