It took me forever to get motivated to create a new map for FC4, since Ubisoft worked so hard at ignoring the multiplayer map community. I only got FC4 after it went on massive discount, and only for the editor. So, I decided to do a remake of what I believe to be the best SP game ever. Nintendo 64 Goldeneye. The editor was buggy and had many frustrating moments, but I pushed through to complete it. However, it is too "cool" for Ubisoft to allow it to pass validation. There should be a way of sharing non-validated for publishing maps. Im not even interested in FC5, I just don't want to get my hopes up again only to have them served to me raw by a company that doesn't care about treating a substantial portion of their fan base as expendable. Enough of my rant, here is my map:
N64-Goldeneye pt.1
I checked and there are no red X's to pass validation. I think it may be the navigation mesh. They have some spots that are red in a vertical column. If this is the problem, then I would have to remove a substantial amount of structure to pass, and I am not willing to do that.It is a total shame that a nav-mesh issue should stop it from being published. I though to give it a try after leaving it alone for so many years, but I guess this will be my first and last map for FC4.
Nav Mesh is a yellow warning (the red cubes) and won't stop it from being published, only RED warnings will. Double check for RED ones, if none are found, it can be published. One thing though, Any AI inside a red cube will be stuck where they are. They cannot take a single step. AI outside the red cube cannot enter one. But if it seems to play alright, I wouldn't worry with it. You get the RED cube when you stack too many objects above each other. Some objects tolerate stacking better than others.
I was able to publish the map finally! Thankyou for the suggestions. Turns out it was a turret that wasn't clear. It was fine before but now it wasn't. So I made a few changes, The heavy gunners and the large ammo piles are gone. I found those made it too easy to progress through the map. Now you have to mainly rely on what you can pick up. It's been a few years since my last map so I know I probably could have used better objects in my structures, but it is also my first map on FarCry4. Let me know what you think, good and bad. Thanks!
