Why is the Lawbringer hot garbage?

I really love the Lawbringer character, but he's SO SLOW. Playing against anyone with a pulse is damn near impossible, as they are easily able to parry any of my heavy attacks (especially top heavy), and IF I'm lucky enough to hit with a Shove (usually from blocking, because neutral Shove is, again, WAY too slow) AND am able to get through my progression of two more heavy attacks for my J,J,E, the wind-up and voice over makes the hit make it that you must be asleep to not parry or move. I was playing against my brother, who was OOS, and he was able to just move out of the way, not dodge, not parry, just move. Lawbringer really needs some sped up moves. Maybe when you parry, you can heavy UB finisher in any direction, not just top heavy? Something...He's my favorite character, but not viable by any means.

I'm not at all understanding this sudden "Lawbie is UP" thing. I'm not sure what level you guys are at, it may be possible he takes a steep decline at tournament level play or something, but I've got a 70% winrate with mine and he's not even my main.

Lawbie has an answer for pretty much all characters, and one of the most effective spam-counters there is (shove on block AND dodge).

A reasonable combo would be forward dodge > bash > light > side heavy feint > GB > heavy/wallthrow top heavy. His sprinting lance move is insanenly handy too, if you can run someone in to a wall it's a free guaranteed heavy that also starts a chain.

May I ask as to what level of play you're at? Have you become reasonably adept at feinting yet?

I main LB and I must say he is no where near UP. Considering I heard nothing about feints I can only assume he doesn't use them. An LB's feints are his best friend. Once you start feinting with LB you can occasionally throw in an actual heavy which combos into a light. Plus his parry set ups are top notch, especially since they added in the fact that top-heavy parry is now feint-able AND combos into a shove. His shove into light combo is also devastating since it starts to condition the opponent into trying to dodge the light, which in turn if you change the light into a GB then you essentially have a good mix-up. If you throw in a feinted heavy after a shove that might also shake em up as well. The LB is ALL about his feints and how you use them.

Im an LB main, and cant say hes UP. He feels really one-sided and boring at times though. I mean, he does have the best parry and block options, but his inability to do anything about an enemy that never attacks is jarring. His feint game is not so good, since his heavies are real slow and they are getting telegraphed by sound. His defence game is strong, yes, but look at the other defensive characters: they all have one way or the other to open an enemy. Conq have safe bashes, warlord have headbutt, shugoki have hyperarmour... But LB doesnt have any at all. So here you are, sitting like a duck waiting for an enemy attack and wondering if that orochi going to do top light or flicker zone.

That is the number one problem for the best counter attacker in the game (until the parry nerf hits and Blind Justice is no longer guaranteed on light parries); if your enemy waits for you to make the first move (and you are both skilled), it may very well be impossible to win as the Lawbringer. I'm still gonna main the **** out of him though. I totally forgot about the Blind Justice>Shove chain that was added (and BJ is feintable as well, I think, but that will only really matter once the parry nerf hits, IMO). It feels so good to finally be able to do that. Get one light parry in, and the pressure is *ON* 😀

    omg...
Dude if you dont like the "waiting" game just pick another character.
Not fast dont means not strong, LB is top tier
after every simple block he can trow a shove...
he can use gb to feint a heavy
    top light is ultra fast
    top heavy stuns
    he have unblockeables
    Massive HP

You can say he is annoying to play, but u can never say he is garbage
Again, just pick an assassin or whatever but dont ask for a buff to this hero, in my opinion block shove should be nerfed

Block>Shove was fine before the semi guaranteed Shove>light was given to the Lawbringer. If anything should go, it should be the semi guaranteed light from block>Shove>light.

Shove can be interrupted by a light attack, though, right? So what if your opponent just commits to a light-light chain? Or a dodge? Shove can be dodged.

Nah, shove has hyperarmour on it. Useful to gain tempo, not great for trading. It usually loses in priority if another bash move hits you during (e.g. If a Conq shield bashes a shoving Lawbie, Conq wins out).
