Yes, they should be slowed down a bit
No, they should stay as they are.
Hello fellow community members. I made this thread in order to debate whether 3 speed operators are too fast/faster than they should be.
My personal opinion on this is that they are indeed too fast. Now, let me clarify that, that is the whole purpose of 3 speed operators but there's a difference between carrying lighter equipment and running faster that the others who carry heavier equipment and running like carrying absolutely no equipment.
I think that their speed should be toned down a bit, in order to slow the game down a little, discourage rushing around corners manipulating latency in order to avoid enemy fire instead of checking corners carefully and most importantly to minimize the impact high pings have on 3 speed operators.
Not few are the times when me and my teammates have been killed by an Ash we simply could not see and when checked the killcam the player playing Ash sprinted to the corner, aimed, fired, killed us and sprinted away. This can also happen with lower pings but in such cases the so-called "ADAD dance" occurs which has pretty much the same results by abusing peeker's advantage by going back and forth, peeking a corner and going back to cover in less than a second continuously.
This was my opinion on this.
Reply below why you think they should be a bit slower or why they are fine and vote in the poll I'll add to this post.
My problem with 3 speeds is there literally seems to be no downside to playing them. Your supposed to make a decision between speed and armour which just isn't the case anymore. Without going into ping abuse/seeing killcams that are 2 seconds ahead of what you saw in your screen etc there are so many pros to going 3 speed: reduced hitboxes mean that the lack of armour means nothing, a selection of some of the best guns in the game, MUCH harder to hear AND then the speed bump on top.
There was supposed to be a balance in the speed/armour classes but it seems to have gone south a bit.
Not sure if a speed nerf would be the best way to go - lord know enough people would be salty about it. Maybe boost their audio reports. Not by a massive amount, I use a headset and hear them okay is but when you hear the sound of a 3 armour next to a 1 armour the difference is far too vast. On border you can literally hear echo stomping around the far side of customs inspection when your in the little office.
Hands down we know that 3-Speed operators have the advantage above all other operator types. Would it be a good solution to make the 3-Speed a small bit slower and the 3 armour the same amount faster?
3-Armour-Operators are so rare at the attacking side, especially in ESL, because 3-Speed gives the Attacker more advantages than disadvantages.
3-Speed is smaller, so more difficult to get an headshot on 3-speed-operators. It's faster, so more peeker's advantage and better for rushes, surprise attacks etc.
3-Armour, on the other hand is so loud and slow and big that it is so clunky to play. The extra HP doesn't matter much in a One-Headshot-Kill-Game. The devs should try to balance out the operator types a bit in my opinion, besides that nerfing the 3-speed operators a bit would lower their peeker's advantage too.
I believe Ubisoft acknowledging the three speed op issue is the foundation of why Lesion and Ela are being introduced now. I can't wait for these two to stall this 3-speed rush tactic that has taken over the meta. Starting season 3 you will be penalized for your careless sprinting through the map and for that I thank ubisoft. I have read some TTS feedback on the new operators being "obnoxious" and I smile a little on the inside. No longer will we need to worry about the indefensible Ash strafe that's a 2K machine as she's trailed closely by Hibana and IQ. Giving defenders the tools to slow down the pace of the game is a HUGE change but I'm sure it will be welcomed. Taking away Jäger and Bandits ACOGs (hope everyone has done this already for practice) really limits the defenders ability to deal with ops before they reach the building but they've balanced this effect by bolsetering our ability to deal with them in CQC. Elas 50 round mag, Ela's concusion trap, Lesions Gu mines and more (while less durable) barbed wire.
Excellent trade off IMO!
I agree in this regard, xdementedpro8, but a OP mechanic shouldn't be countered by an operator, because of that they become must-picks. The problem that I have, and the ESL players too, that 3 speed are better than 3 armour in every kind. The peeker's advantage is also an issue combined with the 3 speed operators, same on defending and attacking side.
Well, the only 3 armor attacker without a shield is Fuze, so...Originally Posted by Zloty.c Go to original post
This may be true, but Fuze has a strong weapon and a good gadget, depending the bomb site, the only thing that holds him back is the 3 armour thing. Montagne is actually fine as he is, ability wise, but Blitz suffers from his slow speed the most. Easy to hit and Jagger can kill him with only 4 shoulder hits.Originally Posted by NATural22cHANce Go to original post
Maybe a 0.75 damage multiplyer for the shield operator shoulders, like a few patches before?
Besides that, 3-Speed-operators rule the meta and everybody knows why.
