    Sniper rifles, scopes, and you.

Alright Ubisoft, can you explain to me the reasoning behind not giving us a greater amplification options on our weapon optics? Scope magnification needs the option to be at least doubled.

Bullet distance needs to be increased by at least 1/2 for longer range capable weapons like the 338 LM.

We need the option to select specialized bullets for the mission; AP, APTI, FMJ, HP, each can offer it's own pros and cons to fit the specific mission requirements.

In a sand box game, where you're supposed to be able to play how you want, why are we so restricted?

Could it be because of technical limitations?

Yup, pretty much that. Except for ammunition that is a pure gameplay design decision.

Because of technical limitations pretty much every range is only 1/3 - 1/4 of the real range.

So instead of beeing able to shoot out to 1500 yards with 338 LM were only able to fight up to 500m. And instead of a nice 25 scope we only get a 6 scope.

However, i still agree the work in the scopes is just poor. The original concept is poor, and the fact they havent adressed the g28 scope is starting to get insulting.
So is the lack of different ammunition. When it comes down to weapons mechanic, this is in no way a tactical shooter.
Sniper ghost warrior 3 shows how it can be done.

Also, the way we have it now also leaves some serious balance issues: There is not a single reason to no use the .50 cal. If you slap a suppressor on it, for some magical reason its as silent as a subsonic pistol, and apparently you can carry the same amount of ammo as you could with 7,62. In addition it can explode all kinds of vehicles in an instant. Especially the latter making in a unreplaceable tool.

Now unlike real life, the 338 lacks hart target capabilities. You can shoot that jammer all day, hammering in a thousends rounds and it will still not break. As for cars, just let me quote ex navy seal sniper Chris Kyle (the guy from american sniper): "Everyone says that the .50 is a perfect anti-vehicle gun. But the truth is that if you shoot the .50 through a vehicle’s engine block, you’re not actually going to stop the vehicle. Not right away. The fluids will leak out and eventually it will stop moving. But it’s not instant by any means. A .338 or even a .300 will do the same thing. No, the best way to stop a vehicle is to shoot the driver. And that you can do with a number of weapons." But dont believe him, just watch:

If you consider all this, what we see in the game is just really bad balancing. They give the 50 all the treats without any disadvantage, of course it turns out everyone is using it. Its really, really annoying.
But its not only the 50 overpowered, others are really underpowered. Id really love to use the L115, but the fact i have to shoot it like a mortar on >300m range completely kills it for me. In addition it requires (like all 338) 2 shots for some enemys. Why. Just why. This is just poor balancing. And makes the 338 completely obsolete.

At this point i doubt though that anything is going to change

    Authenticity people... Don't forget Authenticity!

Sometimes I wonder if this game was really meant to be a shooter.
