I'm sorry for asking in this section but I need you guys to answer this as nobody can.
Does having a negative defense actually put you into the negative? Does it drop you below your base defense? Making you take more damage then having no gear stats on I know defense penetration can't make you go below your base defense. But I can't find anywhere that it explains this in an official capacity. Everyone sees to say something different. Please Ubisoft give me an official response. This has be the subject of many discussion in my For Honor facebook group. Thank you in advance for any help.

look for official statements into the patch notes or watch the warrior's live stream before season 2 started or at the very beginning of season 2. Then you get you confirmation that def pen does not get you into the negative. Defence itself in the negative however results indeed in more additional damage on top of what the opponent already does. You always have to sacrifice sth at some point. Try to figure out what suits your character and your playstyle best. Also sometimes going for the pieces with light enhancement on all 3 stats is a good solution.
