I think that the time frame between when a player begins to run away to when the runner penalty activates needs to be increased (meaning more time to run away) to allow players the ability to relocate themselves to better and more safer parts of the maps.
Now before the community jumps down my throat, please just read the following event that happened to me last:
I ended up losing a round in a duel last night because of this penalty and here is how it happened. I was on the map where it spawns one player and the top of some stairs and it spawns the other player in the middle of an open field, I happened to be the player that was spawned at the top of the stairs. I was playing with Nobushi and my opponent had Centurion. As soon as the match started my opponent rushed in and met me and the bottom of the stairs. We fought for a bit but I found myself slowly backing back up the stairs in an attempt to keep my distance on him/her. Pretty quickly I realized that I was backing myself into a corner (which is not good for a Nobushi to do...or any character to do against a Cent lol) and my only saving grace was to make it back to the open field in which the Cent had spawned in the beginning of the match. At this point I had two choices to make, I can try to maneuver past cent and risk taking more damage (and possibly death by his combo) or I could play it safe, unlock and run back around to the open field and continue the fight. Of course you all know I decided to take the second and safer option (or at least I thought) and I immediately unlocked and ran around to the open field. Cent followed me as well. As soon as I made it to the open field and turned around to continue the fight, the runner penalty kicked in on ALL LEVELS. Not only did it reduce my speed but it snatched away my ENTIRE stamina bar just as I began to throw my top heavy at this charging Cent. Needless to say, I became that Cents wet dream. He/She parried my OOS heavy and proceeded to destroyed me.
The purpose of the above event is to show you all at Ubisoft that not everyone is trying to run away from fights for the sake of trolling people. Some of us players (like myself) have good environmental awareness and know when we need to get to safer grounds and accomplishing that is impossible when you have a runner penalty that kicks in 3 secs into someone sprinting to a better location on your maps. I completely agree with the penalty itself because I've been in fights where players have ran around for like a minute straight but I TRULY believe that the time frame for this penalty to activate should be increased quite a bit.
