Support / Request / Suggestion - For Devs - Ballistas

My request - Remove the friendly fire property from the ballistas.

    Hello everyone,

I have put a lot of time and effort into putting this post together, so if you are working for Ubisoft, or you are perhaps another player experiencing a similar issue, I would appreciate your time to watch, and read what I have to say. This is rather lengthy I warn you, but it's also necessary.

As most of you players know, seasoned (like myself), or perhaps a new player to the game. The new map Sentinel, has been creating some problematic situations, mostly for allies, not so much on PvP, but in AI modes more definitively.

I have experienced a LARGE amount of deaths from the ballistas, due to friendly fire, and I am 110% certain that any of you who play the AI or PvP modes, have experienced this too. Which is all fair and well, when it's an accident! I have no problem with that.

However in the AI modes, it's not. It's trolling, it's abusing, its harassing, and it's damn right annoying. It's creating an already somewhat toxic environment and simply escalating the toxicity to another level. Since season 3 started, there hasn't been a single day that I haven't received purposeful friendly fire from the ballistas (unfortunately I don't have every occasion recorded, so you'll just have to take my word for it).

This team killing nonsense is destroying an enjoyable game and making it miserable for any player on the receiving end, old or new.

Here I will provide chronological videographic evidence to support my proposal. Please follow the links below.

This was at roughly midnight following the release, so the season had hardly even started. Unfortunately I was raging too hard to even think straight about recording the first 3 deaths. A pair of players, most likely friends, were ganging up on me, and shooting me down, and also targeting the other team member (no evidence of the team member on the receiving end though). You will see in this video how many times I had died from them.

This was of the evening after the previous video. These videos both follow the same instance, but as you will see in the second video, the shots were continuously fired towards me. With regards to the first one, I have no explanation as to why he was doing this, other than perhaps for fun.

This was a couple days later, but I wasn't the primary target this time. The other player on the ballista (next to me), I believe was minding his own business, before he was shot at for no reason, with friendly fire continuously hurled towards myself as I was attempting to revive.

Same evening, different game. I was trying to help from the other side, and pulled off a successful shot against the bot team in the opposite tower...and once again, I was shot at.

Several days later, headshot, for no reason.

Same day, provided support for a team member, and I was gracefully thanked by friendly fire. As you will also see, it's happened a lot to me now, so I saw it coming.

This was my second game today, the guy shooting at me had been attacking me while I was on a control point in the previous game, so I had a sense that he would behave this way in this game, as you will see by my reflexes.

This is every factual piece of evidence I have with regards to this situation, and I hope this enough to support my case.

Don't forget, I am but one player of a rather large community, so just imagine all the people that have also been on the receiving end like myself, but haven't the willingness or the time to do this.

I would like to make it clear that I am not looking to report the players, but only to fix the problem by removing the problem, the friendly fire capable ballista itself. All that needs to be done is, remove the friendly fire mechanic, and nothing like this will ever happen again.

...and I can imagine that will make A LOT of players happy

Thanks for your time, and I appreciate any support this post recieves!

Will pass your feedback along! The ballista is definitely something we're hearing a lot of talk about and we're taking a closer look at it - and we want to hear this kind of feedback. So thanks!

Yeah, most certainly makes me want to pull my hair out when this happens. Been killed accidentally and on purpose by teammates before.
I think friendly fire is on the ballista for balance reasons. When something has a 1 shot kill on enemy players, it needs something to balance it out with. Which in this Case, would be dealing severe damage to teammates.
The ballista should deal less damage to teammates. A shot should take 25% of your current health, that way been shot by a teammate will be less likely to kill you, it still seems a fair trade as 25% can mean the difference between life and death.

Thank you. I will be updating this post with any further situations that I find myself or my friends, or allies in. I was actually in one again last night, where a team mate purposely shot me down, so when I get the chance I will put this on the thread.

I'm not entirely sure what to think at the moment. I for one, think that keeping the ballista's the way they are is extremely damaging to the games environment, and detrimental for any players that have to put up with this absurd behaviour. Keeping the ballistas as they are only encourages bad behaviour, ESPECIALLY in the AI modes.

I understand that balancing needs to be done. Which is why in PvP, all damage should be halved (allies and enemies). I don't think it should be a one shot kill, against enemy players. Players who are smart enough, won't even dare to fight at B unless they know that they're in the clear, so essentially, you're confining the players to two single control points. Atleast this way, it gives you a chance to escape from the daring control point of B. The ballistas, I believe, were put in place as a supporting mechanic to aid your allies (but with the catch of friendly fire) fighting at B, not murdering machines that can decimate an entire team!

However, in the AI modes, damage should be different, it's less competitive for a start, and so there's no need for ally damage at all, as this only encourages bad players to behave badly without any repercussions.

As promised here is the situation I found myself in on Sunday; along with another one from the hours of midnight last night.

As this video begins you will see me retreating from the ballista, this was because I was being hit by the centurion over and over again. From leaving the tower I sensed he would try to shoot me, as you will see in this video, subsequently ending with myself being team killed.

Simple, got purposefully headshot by a team member from the ballista opposite me.

Once again, if I find myself in any further situations, I'll be sure to update this post with the evidence.
