Is there anyway to accurately Benchmark IL2? Like running a .ntrk and get an average Framerate for the entire track? I would like to play around with video and sound settings, but without an accurate way to benchmark it any results that are obtained are questionable.

Also, is there a place that keeps an up to date list of what every setting in the conf.ini does? I have looked around to no avail.

    any help is appreciated,
    thx

The community has used The Black Death track for benchmarking from the beginning.

Start recording FPS at :05 and end at 2:30.

There is a data base of scores at mudmovers, but the site is down.

I believe someone was working on a list of conf.ini terms and definitions, but I have not seen it materialise.

I was just starting to go through much of the info on mudmovers when it disappeared

How do I start recording FPS? and how do I get the average?

And I took a look at your settings, I'm going to give them a try. It's interesting, I have a similar setup to you, but you use much better visual settings, and lower sound settings then I do with similar computers (I have an AMD 2500+, Radeon 9700, Audigy Gamer)

    thx for the help

Download a little program called FRAPS. It runs nice and easy, small footprint, screenshot and movie capable and you can keep a log of all your benches. Here is an example of one of my log entries that I edited in the log for future ref.

Oh, I had fraps, but didnt realize it had a benchmarking function. Here are a few results

What I was running, standard 9700/9500 settings, 1024x768x32, excellent vid options setting

    2004-04-09 18:58:49 - il2fb
    Frames: 4004 - Time: 145891ms - Avg: 27.445 - Min: 9 - Max: 57

After making the changes on the video tab in your settings page

    2004-04-09 19:06:06 - il2fb
    Frames: 4100 - Time: 146047ms - Avg: 28.073 - Min: 11 - Max: 57

After making the changes on the sound tab in your settings page:

    2004-04-09 19:10:54 - il2fb
    Frames: 4603 - Time: 146516ms - Avg: 31.416 - Min: 13 - Max: 70

Not really a huge difference but every little bit helps. Does this look about right for an AMD 2500+, radeon 9700, Audigy Gamer with 512 RAM?
