I can appreciate the fact that once you're spotted, well, you're spotted. Enemies will attack you, i get the general jist.
I think the one aspect of it I don't like is how they always manage to hit me within the first 2 shots. Regardless of difficulty level, the enemy AI have better aim than the enemies from the original Far Cry. From 500 meters away, from a boat, through the trees and into the millimeter of my head that's showing over the rock I've chosen for cover.
It's not just the first two shots though, I can grab cover afterward, it's how peaking to shoot your target results in getting hammered by them until you're downed. Maybe I'm too close, maybe there's some fault on my part. I have just always felt they were too damn good at hitting their mark, i think a balance is in order. Obviously the closer you get the worse it will be for you, but i like the firefight element that is just missing now. I love the stealth but I also love how once **** hits the fan the job still needs to get done.
But the fun of it is killed when the accuracy of the enemy is just too high to allow for a fun firefight.
In Tier mode? ....you'll find the same common complaint in multiple threads throughout this forum (including the AI bullet-sponge trait, spawning, alertness, speed, etc.).
There are strategies you can use to help you adapt but for me, it killed much of the enjoyment since my options were narrowed in how I wanted to (or could) play while still being effective. Once I reached Tier 1 I deactivated it and returned to the core game which is much more fun IMO.
+1 - this is my biggest issue with tier 1 - at tier 1 you often cannot directly attack an enemy that you are engaged with because it will shoot you as you break cover to shoot it.
Often only ways to deal with it are explosive drone, grenade spamming or get enough distance to be outside its firing range or use rebel ops. You are basically fighting terminators.
You have to play GRW like a realtor, location, location, location. It becomes obvious early into your first play through that the game is not made for standing your ground after you're detected, and hoping for luck being heavily outnumbered. Keep in mind while you do definitely have a disadvantage trying to deal with enemies after being spotted, you also have a significant advantage when maintaining stealth. If you so much as relocate until red status goes to orange, you stand a FAR better chance. I feel a lot of these complaints are born of people trying to stay put too much after being detected.
When peaking from cover, you need to be either in total stealth or far enough away from where you were when detected. Keep in mind that while still at orange status though, if you shoot anyone you best get the entire group they're with. This is not hard to do since the search groups are usually 3-4. The fact is the game has polar opposites. They see you from much farther away once spotted, but while in total stealth, they're practically blind at any distance farther than 150m. Just pick your location and shots carefully at the start, then there will be less chance of having to relocate.
The enemies being extra keen when alerted, while unrealistic, is due to AI being programmed, and therefore inherently less capable than humans. Once you see how they are programmed to respond, it's not hard to deal even with broken stealth situations. Use their predictability to your advantage. I find the comment about being too hard to go one on one with the enemy in Tier One mode is typical of why so many unfairly bash the AI. If one is perusing Tier One gameplay, especially aspiring to Tier 1 player status, it becomes common sense by then that stealth is imperative.
What part of Ghost in the title and the constant Fall Back warning onscreen when stealth is blown do you guys not get?
I asked before last year but are you talking about the AI while in Tier mode or the core game ? Personally, I find you have much more freedom in the latter. .....as they had intended. Freedom of choice in how you want to approach engagements.Originally Posted by Lt.Smeff Go to original post
In Tier mode your choice was narrowed which personally I didn't like. This was due to the enemy AI enhancements to their health, accuracy, spawn rate, etc. They became super human bullet sponges once alerted. .....a quality I hate in shooters and a reason I liked GRW in the first place (the main gameplay wasn't like that).
Either way, I don't anticipate that they would change this aspect of the gameplay but who knows.
I am sorry but I can not disagree with you more but unfortunately I can not prove why this is wrong. If the enemy ai would not have zombie or God mode and if we manipulate each individual teammate and have them hold or fire without going into Rambo Mode, then we would be able to have a short firefight and depending on the spawning of the reinforcement, decide on whether we need to di di mao or stick it out if we want to die at our own accord.Originally Posted by Frag_Maniac Go to original post
