Update to Donkey and Crazy scoring algorithm ?

    Hey,

As many people may have noticed in the last few days RL have updated the way donkey and crazy leaderboards calculate track score.

It looks like it uses the same algorithm now as normal tracks and not the Night Life algorithm it used to use as explained here - http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php...plained-Forums

Is this intentional by RL ?

For anyone interested, all you need to do is beat one of your records and all your points will be issued that you have outstanding.

Wow! Thats great news if true; really hope that RL tells us if this truly is the case.

I am very busy the next few days, but I will definitely go check a couple of tracks very soon! It would mean lots of new points on some tracks... on a couple of tracks, it could lead to losing a couple of million each...

    Exactly mate.

I jumped from ~130 ish on the donkey LB to 43rd.

I was hoping you would see this thread. There is a few people in the TFG facebook group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/tria...c_location=ufi) talking about it.

I just want to know if it was intentional before altering my site. Ha

This LOOKS and probably is intentional. I know for a fact that it was also mentioned somewhere on the forums as well, so I think this was coming. I'm also going to assume this is also part of update 4.5.1. as well as the new scoring system for the Donkey/Crazy Bikes being integrated onto the servers as well. (Meaning you need to update it as well to update 4.5.1 too for the new Donkey/Crazy scoring system that is on the servers to be activated to your profile, and then make a new Personal Best.)

It was mentioned by a CM here: http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php...st-Recalculate

But, if this is what it looks like, this is an actual thing in which most of us wanted and like anything else, would never thought it would happen and amazingly, it has. (I'm looking at CagBall here, he actually kept an eye on how the Recalculations were doing from Day 1. He kept going and never stopped believing. Now his wish has come true! )

So, with Donkey (and Crazy), the scoring method is now the same as Global (as Bonxy said), the normalized method that should have been used in the 1st place, instead of some makeshift method... In terms of score difference, expect to get MILLIONS of points added, and expect your LB Rank to go up significantly as well! Of course, there were always a few tracks in which they only gave you only a fraction of the usual 750k/800k points, because of how long the track was and how long it took, but expect a LOT of points back from all those lengthy tracks. However, those which are sub-11 (The Cave, Bunnyhop, Hill Climb, and Suspended Getaway) will NOT count as 3 million anymore, they will count as around 750k/800k+ points like every other track, so we will get about 2.2 million points less from each sub-11 second track, but will still overall be a considerable amount of points that will be obtained back to us.

Not really sure about the amount players will gain here in terms of points, it varies from player to player, depending on what tracks are done and what medals that have been obtained on each one. But mainly into 7 or 8 figures, so 9 million, 18 million, who knows... I, personally obtained 11.1 million points, and for the first time ever, was #1 on the Donkey LBs on Android for the FIRST and LAST time, for about a few hours, probably. (I will cherish that moment.) Of course, until the actual #1 (Akrasiia) re-took his/her place on the actual #1 spot and onto the throne again, and rightly so. (And cheater-free (kind of), and with a nacho crown, I think. )

And because of this, any info about the Night Life scoring system in other threads, and the amount of times I've been talking about that in other threads, unfortunately, will become obsolete. Also including xitooner's thread where he figured how the scoring systems work... Of course, credit to him for figuring it out. (Was super-helpful and useful. ) The unusual 'Night Life' scoring method is now extinct, at least we knew about it, and is replaced with the normalized scoring method, but I think rightly so, a bit late, but better late than never.

Also note that with the normalised scoring system, the Donkey/Crazy Bike LB scores look more like proper Global scores, rather than makeshift scores which looked like nothing like their Global score counterparts and was constantly millions of points behind... Now, not the case anymore.

Any track where you think (as an example: ) 'That takes 28 seconds to complete with the Donkey, I'm not going to get the normal score, I'm going to get less...' NO YOU ARE NOT! You will now get the proper score based on what medal it is and NOT what score 28 seconds used to give you. No more worrying about that. Every Platinum you get with the Donkey/Agent/Stallion will NOW count as at least 750k points, and Gold being at least 500k points, Silver being at least 250k points, across EVERY leaderboard.

I'm not sure about Global itself though... And I'm about 99% sure that this is intentional... Can a CM/Dev confirm this? (Just to make ABSOLUTELY sure... )

    Cheers.

    Your exactly right mate.

Hopefully a dev / CM can confirm, and I'll update my site accordingly.

There is no any integration onto server. Game calculates global score on client side. Servers only record what game tells them. So yes, it only will be recalculated when you update your game to v. 5.4.1.

They only confirmed that they have "fixed" the scoring.

I set a new record yesterday and got no global leaderboard points on donkey.

I didn't know if they have fixed it back to how it should have been.

And it's been confirmed on Facebook and Instagram as well. It's been confirmed everywhere else except here, but it couldn't hurt to put that news on here as well. I think it's safe to say that it IS 100% definitely intentional, as the news elsewhere confirms it.

I think it definitely means you can update the scoring systems on your site as well since it has been confirmed via other sources. EDIT: Never mind, that's already in progress!

The way that they were supposed to fix it was to change the scoring system which would change the amount of points that we obtained and also eliminating any scoring issues in the process, as it wasn't the correct scoring system in the first place. It should be like that now.

Reverting back to the 'Night Life' scoring system would just over-complicate things, it means that EVERYONE's scores will be frozen, meaning that it will be millions of points ahead and needing a good amount of points just to get out of the frozen state, but there is no need to do that if the issues have been sorted out already, or it will be more messed up as it is. However, that is very unlikely, so I don't think that has happened.

Bonxy, did you see your score increase at all, was this before or after the scoring fix, what track did you do, and do you play the Donkey often?

One other thing I will say is the MC Event can affect the Donkey/Crazy Leaderboards too, but only if it's using bikes from those categories, Donkey, and the 2 Crazy Bikes. However, it's been a while since the MC contained either of those bikes... So I doubt that is the thing responsible for your score in the frozen state... Very, very unlikely.

OR... It COULD be possible that the amount of points that you have from the scoring system update was LESS than it was previously before the scoring update, which is also very unlikely. It's more likely that you would get more score, since there are more than a few tracks which you would not have obtained the proper amount of points. I would also say that you aren't the only one with this issue.

Not sure what the reason is here, trying to figure this whole thing out.

    Cheers.
