In the game play, I have seen so far with the sniper version of the AR15 in the game has the top & bottom 4th of the scope cut off of the screen, this looks exceptionally bad and seems completely unnecessary to not have the entire lens of the scope visible on the screen.
Cutting off the top and bottom of scopes is an annoying trend in Ubisoft games I was hoping would end with Ghost Recon Wildlands, stop doing it and don't make this a thing Ubi...
Would be greatly appreciated if this were to be fixed/addressed, details do make a difference....
Linked below is a time stamped video showing the scope.

Would also be great to have variable power optics and not just fixed magnification optics, as with actual hunting it's good to be able to dial the magnification up or down depending on one's enviroment and engagement distance.
When you use an actual scope and put your eye right up in it, you don't actually see the entirety of the eye piece of your scope when shooting IRL. I don't necessarily have in issue with it as is, but I wouldn't hate your suggested change either. I'm fairly indifferent since I rarely snipe anyways (sort of consider silenced snipers a coward's weapon) I'm a bow man...
2/5ths of the lens is not obscured in the aiming view of this either, it just cuts off some of the (frankly unnecessary really) outer edges of the scope itself... Again, I don't really play the sniper role much so it may just be that it doesn't bother me since it's not something I use often enough to be concerned with, but to me it seems like cutting off the top/ bottom edges of the screen in order to have a closer more zoomed in view of what you actually are trying to look at isn't a bad thing.

Youre very right, its very unrealistic!
I own a 'certain' amount of guns, several of which are ars.
1st-eye relief is different on every gun. On an AR its several inches give or take. To make it realistic, you would need to see the entire scope and it would need to take up roughly 40% of the screen, the rest out of the scope should use a DOF effect, cause thats how it looks when youre focused in. You would also need to see a portion of the butt stock under the scope.
And if your eye was that close, you would end up with a black eye the first time you fired it.
Ubi needs to do research on where eye placement is for each gun, put a camera exactly where the eye sees, and take a picture.
Yeah, no kidding just was talking eye relief on the Ghost Recon page, developers would do well to learn what eye relief is because that is one thing that is really annoying to look at when it's wrong.
Game developers often get the correct placement of ACOG's on rifles with proper eye relief so poorly one might as well wear an eye patch because there ain't no way one can see a damn thing thru them often being located halfway down the rail like in Rainbow 6 Seige or previous Far Cry games....
Might end up having to send Ubi some magnified optics and tell them to try looking thru them 5-10in away from their eyes maybe that would get them to change up their shenanigans with optic placement.
I don't see how it is 'lazy' design. I can't imagine it takes any less work to make it that way than another. I think it's simply a case where they're prioritizing something different than what you believe should be prioritized. I understand the prioritization of maximizing screen space as opposed to obscuring more of it by having more of the scope visible....Originally Posted by FerroMortem Go to original post
Agreed. I guess I don't think it's better this way than if they were to "pull the camera back" from where it is, but I personally don't take issue with it either.... And again, it isn't even something I'll see very often as I don't play with sniper rifles very often...Originally Posted by Viragoxv535 Go to original post
I guess only those who actually own/shoot guns would understand the issue.
The thing is, when the scope is barely there, it just looks like you are hip firing, but zoomed in.
Heres an image of what it should look like roughly:
Also, in the same vein as this, I dont like how you always run with your gun in front of you, that is VERY unrealistic.
Look how soldiers run with their ARs. They keep them at their chest, and quickly swing it up to shoot as needed.
I wish FPS would get that right.
