That is sort of a shallow thing to say. No animations? No cutscenes? Really murdering immersement and realism. I can't seem to draw the line between what's considered wanted and not wanted in the community.
I wouldn't imagine that the reload animations or that animation for climbing is tiresome. I figure these are pretty basic things and essential things in Far Cry. Looting, skinning, and harvesting are also play big role in the Far Cry franchise. So I don't see why they would not have their own animation.
I hated the lootting animation. Hated waiting for it when I was running around. Never found it 'immersive'.
Wasnt a fan of the skinning either...Why?
Cause 90% of the time the player was SKINNING THE AIR. Wasnt touching the animal at all. It was horrible, and the animation was the same every time.
If they had a different animation for every animal and it looked realistic, then ok, that would be immersive.
Like I said before I could live without the looting animation. But skinning and harvesting? Those are big players in Far Cry and for them to not even acquire an animation that's disappointing.
When skinning an animal it seemed like it was not important in Far Cry 5, cuz it didn't even get a lousy animation.
I'm sure the 90% is an exaggeration, but I guess your point is it happens the majority of the time. Which I disagree. Only happened when the animal was sliding off a cliff or the player was at a really bad angle, which even then was rare.
Ya maybe it was an exaggeration, it was just alot.Originally Posted by Canadian Beer42 Go to original post
It was much worse in Primal I might add, maybe in FC4 it wasnt AS bad, and maybe it had to do with the hills...
And maybe there werent animations at the time of the demo cause they are still working on them, making new ones...
Not to try to excuse them from implementing them, but another factor could be that our character does not pack a machete/ kukari by default like the last few games (which were used in the skinning anims) so that could be another reason they just decided to skip them (though they easily could include a hunting knife in the anims)
That's true. To me it would make sense that your character would carry around even a simple knife like a Swiss Army Knife and could use that to skin an animal and harvest (as a default, not shown as equipped or unequipped). Then the player can decide whether the want to equip a machete or other knife to replace the bat to use for takedowns.
Haha, I just had this image of a skinning animation where the protag pulls out this teeny little swiss army pocket knife and we have to sit through a 2 minute skin animation. I mean, it should be a legit hunting knife, but then it would beg the question why we couldn't use it for takedowns. I dunno, I'm sort of on the fence about if I'm bummed about this or not. On the one hand, when you do so much hunting (at least early on) it does get annoying sitting through the skinning animations, but on the other the way it looks in the game now is just so lifeless and bland. It looks just like looting a crate in Fallout 4, complete with the loot readout before you actually even do it...
