While I'd love Jason Momoa in just about anything (Baywatch Hawaii anyone?), a Samoan Thor might be a little too PC for my taste. Plenty of great Scandinavian actors who can pull off that part in a non-Hollywood fashion.Holy heck, I completely forgot that this was Thor (it was hinted in the previous video you shared). You're right, this depiction is so different from what we see from Hollywood. Though I prefer this over Chris Hemsworth. Maybe Jason Momoa would have done a better job, but still. Hollywood never gets things right.
Chris Hemsworth is awesome as a Marvel Thor, but the Thor comics were never even close to hitting the mark on the Mythology, so we just gotta accept it as entertainment, nothing more.
Ask and ye shall receive; http://l23movies.com/watch/qvozLJdl-valhalla.htmlI absolutely must scour the internet to get that full cartoon. I'd prefer one full-length video over watching bits here and there that would only confuse me more with broken chronology, and would perhaps have omitted segments.
This is totally legal by the way, subtitle options are in the lower right of the viewer, mind the pop up ads. I apologize for my native tongue.
It's no Ralph Bakshi, but it's still a wonderful cartoon through and through.
Good catch, it does in fact. The number 9 is recurring through out the mythology. The 9 worlds is a prime example. Odin possessed a gold ring that would drip a perfect copy of itself every 9 days.Hang on, 540 doors, each being 800-man wide... it is described like that? holy moly. That's new. And huge. These exact numbers are interesting. Why exactly 540... is there some superstition involved? like, 5+4+0 equals 9, the number 9 meaning anything in Norse mythology? I'm just curious.
But yeah, Valhalla is described a pretty grand.
Wikipedia, or a Google search will turn of most of the quotes, if not the entire Sagas. Most of my knowledge comes from book copies, so I can't link to any specific websites, sorry mate.If you could share some link where they explicitly state some of the descriptions from the Sagas, I'd be happy to go burn my eye sockets reading journals about it.
Alternative theory; Conclusion: The Bog Witch effect represents the Supernatural and the Unknown, and Death outside of Battle, the fears of the Viking faction.
What if the Vikings outfit didn't represent what they fear, but what they revere? Ravens are a holy animal in Norse Mythology. Odin owned 2 ravens, Huginn and Muninn (Thought and Memory) whom he'd send out into the world to observe mankind, and report back to him. Valkyries were also believed to take the form of ravens after battles, to choose the slain to go to Valhalla.
The Vikings could adorn the bird skull mask to honor their Gods, and/or pay respects to the dead, rather than partake in fear based superstition.
With that in mind that is now an outfit my valk requires on top of four executions. That's another 20,000 steel I need to save lol. Is it bad what decided me between a few on my first PC character was the executions they use? She has some of my favourites.Originally Posted by Tundra 793 Go to original post
And it is funny, I didn't know about valkyrie turning into ravens (though it ties in nicely with the Morrigan, it makes sense) but my Valk, xbox or PC, has always had a raven tattoo.
Oh certainly I know you're not chasing a meme lol. And yeah I can't say I can argue, I joined the discord for the maps, the actual chat I wound up blocking half the regulars (not going to mudsling by going into details) and while I get roleplay, the whole neckbeard/pillow stuffer thing always grated (tincan isn't much better and everyone needs to grow up but it often had an undertone I disliked).Originally Posted by Fady117 Go to original post
Now hold on one Shogun-picking minute! The Samurai fortress is a match for Blackstone Keep any day of the week. Seijuro even had a whole Elephant stomping around in the palace courtyardOriginally Posted by Fady117 Go to original post![]()
That security though...let's just say there are a few wrecked paper doors.Originally Posted by Vakris_One Go to original post
Lookin' forward to it. I might even give it a watch myself, haven't seen the whole thing in years. The next time I'll come back here, I'll report back with thoughts and interpretations after having seen it.
I appreciate this attitude. Most people just want either English, or dubbed in their native tongue, but sometimes either option just murders a narrative. A lot of gamers even play the Witcher series in native Polish with subtitles. Really oughta give that a try sometime.Don't apologise for the Danish, on the contrary I appreciate it being in non-English as it helps in enhancing the overall ambience. Mind you, I have Japanese language set in Monster Hunter World, but with English text and subtitles. Not because I'm fluent in Japanese; the Japanese language just fits that game way more.
I might just next time I plug in 3, I completed it but I skipped the sidequests and have DLC I paid for and haven't gotten far in.Originally Posted by Tundra 793 Go to original post
I occasionally watch the scandanavian detective dramas that play here sometimes but I have to be in the mood and not tired from a run of shifts since tv tends to be background noise and that takes a little more effort.
Oh you definitely need to do the DLCs and sidequests, there's a reason all that stuff won all the awards. It's brilliant.Originally Posted by CandleInTheDark Go to original post
And even Scandinavians are tired of Scandinavian crime dramas. **** me I cannot handle another one of them my god how the ****ing **** is that the only genre 3 countries can persistently churn out.
Might do a new run, I hated the choice between lovers, I had a preference but it felt like he owed it more to the other (and my choice took advantage of amnesia so not so good a person however much she cares), either way the scene rejecting the other is damn hard lol. It earns its dark fantasy tag. Might be worth it for another reason, my mother was Polish/first generation English but the general feeling was us kids wouldn't need to know Polish, I won't learn it off a game but worth it to listen to.Originally Posted by Tundra 793 Go to original post
The last one I saw any of was a cop with aspergers, followed that one through. Personally I blame all the scandanavian crime authors selling books in England, people want to see that stuff as a result.
