They do! I took notes whenever we sat down all together (about 15x devs in total) and reviewed the maps. There are on my work PC so I'll try to post them next week.Originally Posted by impressionman76 Go to original post
And they also wanted to tell you they loved seeing so many great maps created and all the mappers testing each other's map. I remember 1 dev specifically saying "man, the community is on fire right now, it's so inspiring and motivating". So, thank you!

You have not seen nothing yet, if you deliver a solid game for us map builders then I see a lot of the old school mappers returning mainly on XB1 and then you will have yourself a raging inferno because they will want to showcase their skills, competition is a good thingOriginally Posted by Mathias338 Go to original post
Some are also mentioning Map Jam 2 already, will there be one?
I totally agree...this is NOTHING.Originally Posted by Fallen-Champ Go to original post
I wish yall could have been around to see the FC2 days! THAT was insane!
I think most mappers are less worried about the IGE than the MP.
As long as the MP set up works EXACTLY like the FC2 MP, than youll be blown away by the turnout. Anything LESS or DIFFERENT will turn away the few mappers left, and all the work put into the IGE wont really matter...
Congratulations to all winner chosen by the dev team and thank you for taking the time, devs! I took a look at a few maps (not all) and you had difficult decisions to make. I really like the custom vehicles, they're awesome!
Looking forward to see a second map jam. Was my first time using the editor and learned very much for the next map. Especially to make my map a way easier if my focus is on level design

Yes we really would like to do a new Map Jam!Originally Posted by Fallen-Champ Go to original post
Maybe after Gamescom & PAX?
We're also reviewing with the devteam a couple of changes to the rules, voting, etc.
This first Map Jam was a test for us and we want to improve all the mechanics behind it, so that all the map builders feel it's both fun & fair to participate
Actually, I'll post the feedback re: rules here, so that you can tell us what you think about them.
For example, one idea we had was to replace the 'Best Gameplay' category by another category called 'Best Narrative Context'
Simply because changing the gameplay requires more tools & features available + is currently very close the 'Best Level Design' category.
Adding the 'Narrative context' would allow us to reward map builders who try to create a story with their map.

I think it is much better interacting with us in that way and giving us some choices.Originally Posted by Mathias338 Go to original post
It opens things up to a wider audience because there are some people who do like to have a story behind their designs.
One thing that shocked me was the number of multiple map submissions, usually these things are 1 map per person but some of these people can knock a map out really fast, still I prefer that 1 map each or 1 map per platform.
2 weeks is also a bit rough some like a little longer - depends how much spare time a person has or if they work full / part time etc.
Would also be nice to get an idea on some choices - I still don't think the snow theme has ever been pushed properly on Far Cry 4 the assets are there but few make really good snow themed maps, my own isn't anything to write home about (but it was my 1st on the new game I guess)
I also like the idea of Verticality but unsure this would be everyone's cup of tea as we say here in the UK
Last thing would be Xbox and PS4 they can't play each others maps unfortunately so it might be an idea to split that so PC / XB1 / PS4 all have their own winners for each category on each platform.
(I know on PS4 we can play PC and XB1 maps via mapswapper but it doesn't work on XB1)
With the public vote maybe only allow Map Builders to vote who entered a map, let them decide overall which they prefer so each entry sends a message on the forums here for which they like best for each category for each platform but as some said they can't vote on their own map - that would be interesting and maybe worth trying, it has had some success in the past but obviously some will always vote for friends - I just can't see the public vote ever working / been fair but maybe look at trying some different options with it.
That sounds great! Maybe with a digital copy of FC5 as winning price?Originally Posted by Mathias338 Go to original post
That's a very good idea. Btw. what does "Best Graphics" mean? What are the requirements for this category? I imagine graphics as textures, filtering etc. but all maps have of course the same.Originally Posted by Mathias338 Go to original post
For me best Graphics are the placement of the assets.. Does it look natural? Are the assets firmly on the ground or floating? Also the objects that are made from other assets. I think this video shows what I mean. Check out the big rig truck, water tower, tractor trailer and all the other objects that DapperHayden has made in the map, which won best Graphics on PC.. Atleast that's my understanding of it.Originally Posted by MrCrackDonut Go to original post
