Celtic Curse is the best opener for Highlanders, and it can be soft fainted to both sides from the top, be aware of that. The trick is that Highlanders can fast flow into offensive form with it, and follow up with unblockable heavies or fast lights.
Keep in mind that the Highlander's maximum damage from any single hit is only 40, and he hits and moves real slow.
All of these moves are pretty telegraphed and blockable and/or parriable.
Wardens have been kicking my Rep 1 level 6 Highlander's *** all day, and while I don't often say it, this really does sound like you just need more practice against them.
Although I agree that the damage from a fully geared Highlander will be quite a bit, keep in mind that his damage numbers are pretty low compared to other characters, especially ones with similar attack speeds. After all, Warden has a top heavy that does more damage and is useable much more often that a Highlander's top heavy, Berzerker's top heavy (which has a much more similar attack speed) does 15 points of extra damage. It would make sense for HIghlander to actually do more damage than he currently does, at least on his top heavy.Originally Posted by Tydeelee Go to original post
Most people will spam the use of Celtic Curse because it's a much safer way to enter offensive stance compared to just switching, as that gives your opponent time to poke you with a quick light attack before you can get in range to really do anything productive. By using Celtic Curse, you close the gap to your opponent and immediately have offensive stance in order to continue the aggression.
I must admit that many attacks seem to track you much farther than you would expect (gladiator's included) but his guard break range is pitiful, and rewards nothing but a zone cancel unless there's a wall nearby. Considering how few times you'll actually guard break someone as Highlander, I feel like he needs to use less stamina to do the same damage as any other character (without a wall).
Full geared berzerkers can do (I'm estimating here) roughly 70-75 damage with a top heavy. Considering that Highlander's damage will probably peak at 50-55 from his top heavy with maxed attack gear, his damage is surprisingly weak and underwhelming.
