I don't know how hard it is for you to make a new item for the Weekly Challenge, but giving out items that people purchased is really not cool.
I wouldn't buy any of those items if I knew that you would give them out for free once I finish my challenge.
I finished every single one of them and have not missed one.
Does that mean I spent money on something that I could get for free?
What's making it special?
Do I wanna purchase any in-game items from you because you are giving them out eventually?
I'm really disappointed.
Yea? Ask my friend who is too lazy to play the game about these 'giveaway' items you're talking about. That's right. He doesn't have any of them nor does he able to claim them for free right now.
Those items you are mad about are only obtainable under a very short time frame and behind specific objectives. After that, they're locked forever.
You, in the meantime, who purchased the items have access to them earlier. If you haven't bought them yet, you don't even have to worry about missing them, while people who are not willing to spend money will have to complete the requirement in-time when the item they want get assigned as reward.
Besides, considering you have paid them, that means you know those items worth the money you spent. Why even complaining at this point knowing those are just limited time reward for those who DO play and stay loyal with the game? You don't even know which item from which Ghost Pack coming up as reward in the future.
I myself have purchased some Ghost Packs to support the game. Last week's and this week's rewards are part of the Ghost Pack I purchased two months ago, fyi.
So yeah, please continue it, Ubi.
I think maybe the better way to view it is that these items are "rewards" for the more enthusiastic part of the player base.
I see the OP's frustration though. It should be made really clear that there will be opportunities to earn in-game items that you have to pay for. That way the buyer knows there is a choice, because finding out after you've paid is not great.
There have been also rewards that were giving on 2 occasions... It would have been nice if each reward is unique and like with the season 1 stuff you had the option to purchase them later on. But as some said, there is some truth to the statement that you couldn't really complain if they would be sold cheaper on sales. Also a lot of the available items in the store are just 'early access' to free items from the game (all weapon packs as example).
As much as I despise UBI for their way of doing business, and it seems like every other Company does it as well, and just like I can not tell you how to spend your money, you can not tell UBI how they should give away they rewards.
Perhaps in the future you will not spend money on things that you may get for free at some point. True, you will never know because they will not be truthful on their business ways but knowing this ahead of time, will prevent you from getting upset
Heck, I've bought games in the past that were eventually given away for free. For example, I recall PSN giving away all (or most) of the expansion packs for BF4 for free so I downloaded them. This was merchandise others could have paid for a day prior.
Typically, this kind of stuff all gets discounted, bundled or given away for free at some point. It's one reason I don't usually buy any of it. .....the other being that most times that sort of content doesn't interest me.
In my eyes, earning these rewards is no different than systems in other game where people can buy (with real cash) certain items that are still available to other players through in-game currency, points, etc. that they must earn.
I bought these items when the game released, I had no idea these items were gonna be free rewards to everyone who finished the challenges. I did finish every single one. Most of these items I don't really use, I just thought it would look nice for my inventory. I will be fine if they first give out rewards for a limited time, then sell to to anyone who missed the challenge and wanted the items. I'm really not saying that they have to make it this way or that way, it's there game who am I to judge. I'm just saying the truth. I'm not happy about this. You don't have to care what I think. I loved this game so I purchased these items, but now I'm doing the challenges everyone else is doing except that I paid for them already doesn't seem fair to me. (personal opinions)
