I've come to the conclusion that it's not the matchmaking's fault totally. It's also the fact that this game is dead. Of the last 10 games I've played on Xbox, 8 have had the same players. This is in the "high activity" of Dominion.
Of those 10 games, half were against teams who were likely a four man squad, meaning they communicated and stayed in a pack. The other 5 were against teams were it was my team of 2 players and 2 ******ed AI vs a full human team.
This game had a lot of potential. Unfortunately Ubi spreading their resources so thin between this, Division, *** Creed, Wildlands, and Siege has made every one of those games terrible. But hey, quantity over quality right?
The activity listing must be a complete lie to be honest. It always shows high activity or very high activity even though the playerbase is less than 10% of what it was on release. It still has a chance at being great, its just there are so many bugs, the game isnt smart enough to actually match equal players together, and the fact they put the 10 minute penalty on matchmaking instead of just fixing the issue where leaving a match might crash it is the icing on the cake of lazy support of the game.
This. The population per mode must be borked. I get matched more evenly and routinely in Skirmish than I do in Dominion, where Skirmish is "Medium Activity" and Dominion is "Very High".Originally Posted by Casper5632 Go to original post
The game is fun when it's clicking on all points. I got into a game last night, 4v4 Dominion with equally matched teams. I had some AMAZING 1v2, 2v2, and 1v1 fights during that match. My team was running in groups, capping and boosting points, and reviving when possible. It was like it was back in the beta/first launch. But then, of course, the server dropped on our second round. But that leads me to question the skill system. When we launched, it said my skill was "higher than my allies" and "lower than my enemies". How is skill rated? Because we were all evenly matched.
The move to dedicated servers should (should) help some, because then player connection will be more balanced. But then I worry that we'll get even worse matchmaking because it's based on which running servers are open. The game is so fun when it's fun, but so rage-quit inducing when it's not that there's no happy medium. My second match last night after the amazing one consisted of me getting 3v1ed while my team sat in the one point we controlled boosting it.
I've come to the conclusion that the only way for the game to be enjoyable in its current state is to have a party of people to play with, otherwise you're constantly rolling the dice on allies while praying that your enemy has at least comparable skill.
