Based on the few game forums I was involved in.... in my eyes this community has been the worse. But that's my opinion. Prime example... I mentioned an issue about the grenades standing you up before they even land or go off on legendary missions. I asked if they were going to address this issue in 1.7. Somebody replied if it's an issue thats preventing you from completing legendary you need to better your strategy. I've soloed many legendary missions but at times I come across the grenade issue. So I'm pretty sure my strategy isn't the problem but the comment was made.... and my question wasn't answered. My point is that you get this a lot on this forum. I've seen worse comments made on other threads.
I don't think this issue is specific to The Division, most games have toxic players and probably just as many. There are two issues with The Division that make this situation seem a lot worse however.
First the player base is ridiculously low due to many reasons so that same number of toxic players now constitutes a much larger percentage of the player base.
The second issue is that The Division as a game is actually pretty difficult for casual players. Many of the players who have stuck this game out to the bitter end are genuinely very very good at it. The problem is they are not humble about it preferring to laugh and belittle less experienced players rather than help them.
Let's also not forget that the anonymity of the internet causes a lot of people to act in ways in this game and on the forums that they simply would not in real life. I let it go most of the time as we all do but on occasion I have felt the need to get in game chat and ask someone why they are saying what they are saying. If you trash talk them back they just become abusive but put straight forward polite questions to them and most admit getting caught up in the moment and apologize. I've actually made a few good friends this way.
The game is frustrating and players tend to take that frustration out on each each other rather than the developers because the developers simply WILL NOT engage in any meaningful discussions about this game and are simply not interested in fixing it.
I think any game with pve and pvp will have a tense community. In the division pvp changes have heavily changed the pve aspect of the game and I believe that's where the core conflict is.
Now add to that, the bugs and lag and devs nickel and diming is for a game that has so many issues, it was bound to get hectic here.
Overall this community isn't that bad, it's just a lot of frustration right now, especially since all the money poured into hasn't turned into new content in the last few patches.
I ran into somebody on here in the dz and his group and my group kept killing each other. He sent me a message asking if I was on the forums and it was all a good time.
I think the toxicity is just the way players are in pvp games now days. The Division make it worse because it is part of the game, to be toxic and grief others. I think it carries over to the forums too. Players have there styles of play and the want to play the game exactly their way. If you oppose, instead of a fair argument, they talk trash to see if they get you to respond.
The Devs and CMs enjoy as well, take this update. Massive/Ubi keep claiming they want build diversity, then they squash any and all skills that don't support the new meta. They state one thing and the fubar it with extreme actions. I always "oh we got to nerf this or that, why not buff the weaker stuff to make it better then weaken something that is supposedly OP. They know that their actions will divide the player base and have players take sides. If you question, they either ignore the conversation or hand temp bans like some old guy handing out candy outside of school to any kids who will get into their car.
A while back some players to showed Matt up trying to prove a point. Instead of a yeah you're right we'll look into it. He punished them for making him look bad.
I loved that stream, too see how Matt got more pissed the more he was killed ;-)Originally Posted by YodaMan 3D Go to original post
His reaction shown me, that no one a ubi has the balls to say they removed up and want to fix anything in this freakin game.
