I think that not every software house can have the luxury of seeing and learning from another similar product about the risks and challenges that incur in making a game of this magnitude. Sea of Thieves has an incredibly solid base and a concept that translates perfeclty into FUN. The moments of joy and awe you experience in the title are undenyable. Everything is great...untill you start to peak under the curtain and see that progression is just an illusion and everything that was jaw-dropping in the first 10 hours infamously turn into tedious and repetitive.
After 20 hours on it I can quite say I got a fair idea of the game pros and cons. I can't help but think how the game would have been more enjoyable if it was only ship focused as the experience at sea is just SO well done.
Coming from that experience and seeing how many people demand the land aspect of a pirate game make me wonder if it's an actually good idea. Gamers don't quite often understand that making a game is hard, it's time-consuming and adding something is not like adding a sentence to a post. Everything has to work together and most of all HAS TO BE GOOD.
Aside from some absolutely sensless posts I can read here which i hope none of the ubi people involved with the game will take into consideration, I can understand the request. Ultimately we all make choices. If Ubi decided they wanna make a pirate game focused mostly on sailing and raiding ships at sea we gotta deal with it.
I honestly would sign everywhere if I knew would be genuinly FUN to play and the sense of accomplishment and progression would be well balanced and wisely spread through the play time. All this at the cost of the sword play and the land section? Any time...
Of course the best would be to have it all but then again, you know how they say: You can't have the cake and eat it.
well, only sea action will get too repeptitive and boring...a pirate game shouldnt be really based on ONE thing ONLY...there should be sea, land and underwater action and adventure and so on..you can take black flag as a very good example but of course it should be ONLINE where you can fight or ally with other players and do lots of other stuff in the massive open world...the only thing black flag is missing is the multiplayer open world...so lets see what its gonna be like but I really hope they gonna make the game like that...Originally Posted by OrTheOtherWay Go to original post
I'll add my yes to everything you've just said. Although I'm still in the sweet spot with Sea of Thieves where it hasn't become repetitive for me, I'm just enjoying going round and catching chickens to sell to the merchants.Originally Posted by OrTheOtherWay Go to original post
Still a bit disapointed that's it's not based more on historical ships, but with NA legends put on hold it may be my only option until tides of war or hearts of oak get done.
I'm certainly not expecting them to turn this into another Assasins creed game like some posting in the thread, as it would cost too much and push the games release back by a signifigant amount.
lol many people including me would even wait for 5 more years to make this game a great open online world pirate gameOriginally Posted by Ruthless4u Go to original post
