From Warden to Warden: SB the SB-mix up - Asking for timing advice

    Hello dear fellow Warden-Players,

I lately have trouble to counter the vortex whilst being in it myself. What I would like to do is to dodge sideways and initiate a shoulderbash myself after being hit with a shoulderbash and receiving the double-side lights. However lately I seem to never get it done. countering the bash as an initiation is still easy of course, but whilst in the vortex I can't seem to figure out the right timing anymore. Of course I could still roll out but this is not what I'd prefer.

I was wondering if something changed there or if there there was a mechanic just like with the ranged gb of the shinobi in which you must get the timing right and other inputs like too early or too late will only result in you failing to do what you want to achieve.

So what I was trying is hitting dodge right after the last double-side light, or when I feel that my character does not seem to be "unbalanced" anymore in terms of his animation, or shortly before the actual bash from my opponent comes out.

There was a time when I happen to manage this quite easily and was even so fast with it that my opponent could not gb me. Does anyone knows whether or not this still exists and what the conditions may be for it?

Secondly, I also tried to stop the vortex numerrous times with a quick top light. This is only successful for me atm when my opponent intends to go for a softcancel into GB. Also as a Shugoki who always was able to interrupt the vortex with a quick top light I happen to have trouble to land it. Has the shoulder bash receive more of sth like recovery damage upon the opponent due to the latest patches or is it a timing thing?

Since the devs decided to implement training mode with more advanced options for the bots so unbelieveable late in the game's life cycle (season 4) I cannot test it out that well in a steril scenario other than grabbing a pal and who would be willing to practice with me.

But anyhow I would love to hear some insights from my fellow warden's since I know some of you get the timing just right and at least the shoulderbashing the shoulderbash is still possible

    Thx in advance

    Ave Maria & Deus Vult

So I tried testing it a little against a level3 Bot and noticed that I could easily do the counter shoulderbash when I was attacked from neutral and just stood there doing nothing. However, when I actually did sth like initiate a bash myself or just dashing into the opponent it would at times (not always - which is a bit weird to me) stop me from getting and input through and I would be locked again in the next shoulderbash mixup. So apparently in some cases the shoulderbash of my bot caused my recovery to prolong so I would not be able to get out of there in time. Since I mostly get hit by a shoulderbash when I was actually trying to initiate something myself this could be an explanation why this happened so often to me lately. Though I am wondering if this is really intended and why it would appear to be so inconsistent...

anybody else has insights about this? And btw, no, no wallsplat involved here
