What is the point on deactivating TIER 1 to farm more Tier points? Skipping difficulty matter.
If it was an attempt from Ubisoft to give players more challenges, it was just a failed attempt because it allowed cheaters to get TIER 1 easily by deactivating it and activating just before getting the points.
TIER 1 was a very very good idea, done in a wrong way.
TIER 1 players should fight their way through till the very end, as real ghosts!
Allowing cheats makes this TIER 1 meaningless as cheating give cheater the very same rewards that serious ghost players get. Not fair.
I agree that when a mission is started the difficulty should not be allowed to be changed mid way through either by means of Tier 1 activation/deactivation or standard difficulties. What I disagree with is that when deactivating Tier 1 your progress would be wiped out. For example if I was to play with a total newbie friend who was playing on arcade it would be unfair on them and myself to play with Tier 1 turned on so I would probably flick Tier 1 off and possibly reduce my difficuly depending on their playstyle. If a full reset of my Tier points was to happen I can never leave this mode if I don't want to waste the hours of gametime put into it.
...yeah, I don't get the issue either. You've already got folks re-doing a select handful of relatively easy missions over and over again just to farm points rather than play for the challenge.
Real Ghosts? ....meh. Some people will always find shortcuts. I don't see the fun in it but why should anyone care about something as trivial as this especially when it doesn't adversely affect others, yeah?
....maybe it's because someone's Tier level holds no value or prestige with me.
....and on another note, I have always preferred to play without enemy markers, a limited HUD, extreme difficulty, limited use of my drone and no rebel support. That didn't change when I first started the Tier mode.
Having said that, should I now think that when folks use markers, they are cheating? .....or how about when they take advantage of the easier difficulty settings? ...or when they use their drone to take out enemies with explosions, convoys with EMP, revive teammates, etc.? It's definitely much easier for them with those advantages rather than the way I like to play but the leveling system really doesn't take this into account. .....Tier 1 is still TIer 1.
Again, who cares what others do when it has no affect on you? In the end, everyone who wants to level to Tier 1 will be Tier 1 and no one will know exactly what they did to get there. ....nor will most of them care I'll wager. Play the game the way you like to play and enjoy it.
btw, I began to rely more on my drone and rebel support in the later stages of the TIer mode as the engagements became more ridiculous and the grind for resources dragged on. Two aspects of this game I rarely find fun anymore (in Tier mode). I don't blame people for finding easier, faster ways as they progress.
