So as I'm sure everyone is quite aware, the defense meta patch fixed a lot of things and made a lot of things worse. Being out of stamina is a death sentence against certain characters but not too bad against others which is a strong imbalance, parry is really something to be careful of doing too much of which is nice, but there's some things in the game that simply cannot happen anymore because of light parries being equal in recovery time from heavy parries.
Here's only one example: Lawbringer's Blind Justice from parries. It will never, under any circumstance, hit anyone who can dodge or parry an attack. This is because it used to be guaranteed on light parries, but now that those are equal, you can still parry it even on a light parry. As an added bonus, unlike the blind justice finisher from the combo, you cannot feint it. This means that dodging it after you're parried is completely possible as well.
While some of the changes seriously help the health of the game, I feel that making certain moves useless or obsolete ruins some of the fun of the game and forces less variety in your available choices to attack.
Thanks for offering your thoughts on the changes. We partly addressed potential issues with moves that rely on the parry mechanic. In our Warrior's Den stream, we mentioned the goal of PTS 2 is to see how the changes impact existing characters and see what sort of changes need to be made to adapt characters to the fight system changes. This would include Lawbringer's Blind Justice, which will probably require a rework to become viable again. How it will change will be decided based on the findings of the test.
