First off, thank you so much for listening to the community about the helicopter controls and acting on it, Ubisoft. The new control scheme is a big improvement, and it's greatly appreciated.
That said, there are some issues I'd really like to see addressed. Helicopters maneuver and respond like they don't have weight (it's really obvious when maneuvering in one direction then abruptly changing to the opposite direction; particularly for the Little Bird), and you can still fly through cables and some types of trees as if they weren't there (this also goes for planes). Having the ability to free-look with the new control scheme would be extremely helpful, and helicopters should not automatically leave the ground after a player climbs in the pilot's seat until they increase the throttle to do so.
The rest of the vehicle types still need some improvement, too. Planes need yaw controls, more realistic handling/physics, and it would be great if we had an option to lock the camera so it stays level with the aircraft while maneuvering. There's also that one twin engine transport plane that has retractable landing gears that don't work (I'd prefer a button/key to manually raise & lower them, but I'd be happy if they worked automatically).
Ground vehicles should be capable of flipping and tumbling realistically when crashed, and not automatically fighting to keep themselves upright. I'd like to have an option to disable this training wheel-type of gameplay mechanic. Players should have the ability to manually flip vehicles over. Some vehicles should require more or all of our teammates to flip over depending on the size (some should be too big to flip at all, though).
Also, it'd be really nice to have functional horns for cars, trucks, motorcycles, etc.![]()
The new controls are an improvement, but the original controls were better. All the original controls needed were a polish and cross hair. Only thing i do not like about the new controls are that they don't maneuver as good as original. I was able to dodge SAM missiles alot easier with the older controls. The old controls just needed a fix on how it bounces away when engaging the enemy and an aim cross hair
My only complaints are the movement is a little too precise and the lack of a free camera makes avoiding SAMs a pain, especially in Media Luna. I would certainly like the guns/rockets on armed helicopters mapped back to the X/A button for both schemes, as well. And it'd be nice if the aiming reticle and speed/altitude indicators were made available for the classic scheme, too.
I'm sorry but i disagree with every1 who has posted here the new helicopter controls are absolute ****e i've seen games designed for 4 year olds with better control over the vehicle then this the old controls weren't great but at least you had more control of the chopper, now its just like playing planetside 2 floating around on rails. Is it really that hard to give the helicopters a decent flight model and control?
To me it is clear, that this control scheme was done for controller.
As a PC gamer, I find it obvious that no designer on this game is into PC gaming. There is no affinity for mouse and keyboard feeling. ZERO.
So, playing the game with xbox controller this stuff is an improvement. Playing the game with mouse and keyboard is a disaster. Just like the rest of the game design that is shouting in your face: "I am not made for mouse and keyboard!.
Couldn't have said it better myself Dreepa it's a shame game dev's focus so heavily on the Console Jockey's and leave us pc gamers with a scrappy version of a game that had the potential to be great, all the dlc's could've been worked into the main campaign without a issue its just lazy design, I've been around the sun a few times now and remember the days when a Tom Clancy game came out you looked forward to it due to the tactical realism of the game.
Dont get me wrong the design of the games are still awesome but with dev's focusing so heavy on the consoles nowadays its just a waiting game to see when we're gonna be disappointed next
It didn't matter what they did somebody was bound to ***** about the new controls. While I feel they need some improvement to make the chopper feel more like a real chopper (the original controls had that but were hard to use to hover or sidestep) I like the new controls and the crosshairs. Now I actually want to use the choppers to take stuff out. I just wish they had put the speed and altitude HUD in the plane as well and the speed in vehicles. I also think each helicopter should have it's own top speed, and that planes should be faster so you can traverse the map more quickly.
I agree with almost everything you said.Originally Posted by Vargus17 Go to original post
I'd like to add that I wish you could toggle the altimeter on/off, instead of having to turn on "input mode" in the game settings. Input mode "on" displays the buttons to use all vehicles, but I already know how to use vehicles so I don't want to see that information.
