Recently whilst playing the shinobi I have been doing the double dash, as you do, and even though their weapon was attacking my previous spot the damage would still apply and the shinobi would recoil back. Now of course there are attacks that can arc and dmg dodging opponents but even top attacks would still apply the dmg. Anyone else come across this problem?
